Manager booking AL instead of shielding

Post by bunnyjluk »

My mother was discharged from Hospital on Friday 29th Jan 2021, after two weeks stay for stomach disorder. She was tested negative for covid before dischared but one other patient in her ward was tested positive before her dicharge. She was dicharged with a note that since she has been exposed to someone positive need to self isolate along with the family. As she lives with me I informed the line manager and Depot manager on Friday 29th Jan'21.

I understand from my line manager that he has booked my annual leave for 29thJan, and 1st to 5th Feb (six days) and I need to stay home.

If I am on self-isolation is it appropriate to adjust my absence as my annual leave ?

I have spoken to union rep. who confirmed that it should be a sick leave and not annual leave. How do I deal with this ?

You have started the ball rolling by talking to your rep, the rep should now deal with it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

no luck with union rep. He had few discussions with managers and said the manager would talk to me directly . As per rep it is now between me and the manager.
The manager did not call and would not answer my calls.
