More Contracted Hours

Just a quckie, if your happy with your pt contracted hours, can the Dom up your contracted hours if you don't want extra hours. When I say up your hours, I don't mean to ft hours I mean by 1 hour.

The Agenda for Growth States;
"2.7.2 Full time Employees will remain full time unless they volunteer to move to part time hours. Part time Employees will be entitled to retain their existing contractual hours if they wish."

Although you specify not part- time to full time I believe the same entitlement applies, unless you agree to change your contract. What if a manager wanted to decrease an employees contracted hours by an hour, would this be acceptable without the employees agreement.

Thanks for the reply, basically they want to take hours from 30 to 31, which would entail me throwing mech mail into my fitting, which takes longer per day than the 10 mins it equates to over the week. At the moment someone does it for me

Until "they" give you something in writing then nothing has changed. I can only suggest you seek advice from your Rep. Alternatively approach "them" & suggest the information you have read indicates any changes would appear to be by mutual agreement.

If they are offering any hours to do anything indoors I would be tempted to take them.

1. If it's just sequenced mail 12 minutes is pretty much par for the course on a normal day.

2. It's just as easy for them to arbitrarily decide that your other iindoor tasks should take 12 minutes less and therefore miraculously you already have this time to do your Mech.

3. At least if you're being paid to do it you know it's going to be done.

4. Any increase in contracted hours is permanent and pensionable, overtime isn't.

The trouble is the jobs are unachievable and this would just make the job even more so, everyone whose upped their hours have said they wished they had stayed on 30.

How much impact would this really have on the achievability of a duty?

Unachievable is unachievable.

An extra hour is a 3.3% pay rise.
More than the union got us.

I wouldn't class it as a pay rise as I would be working an extra hour a week, they wouldn't be giving me on top of my wages unless I work the hour
