Track and Trace
A large number at my delivery office have been off as a result of track and trace,i tested 24 hours ago and received a text message as i stood at my fitting that i was positive (no symptoms),i informed my DOM who told me to leave the office,i had no means of getting home as i have a van retention and live 10 miles away, unable to use public transport, pouring with rain,no duty of care for an employees wellbeing from a senior manager,a colleague offered to take me back home in the van i drove to work, windows open and wearing masks,we were spotted by a fellow worker who reported both of us for van sharing, resulting in both of us being suspended, anyone any idea which way this will go ?

Re: Track and Trace
I'm struggling to understand why someone awaiting a test result would turn up for work in the first place.
You must have thought there was a good chance that you had been exposed to a positive case to take the test.

Re: Track and Trace
In my opinion you should be sacked unfortunately and reported for breaching covid rules. If your manager knew you were waiting for results and still In work he should be going with you. The fact that your asking how it should go after risking everybody else's lifes especially the driver who was nuts enough to get in a van with you is an insult to everyone trying to keep there family safe and has to work

Re: Track and Trace
The only other possible option for the manager would be to have let you take the van home. It's going to be out of service for 72 hours anyway so it doesn't really matter whether it's outside your house for that period or in the yard.
Of course then someone would have had to clean it then drive it back to the office and I'm not sure if that could be cleared with senior management but other than that what do you think the manager could have done?

Re: Track and Trace
On face value it does seem very hard to defend your actions. If you were informed by the app or a phone call from contact tracing that you need to self isolate then you should have been isolating for the length of time you were told to with no need to get a test unless you develop symptoms. If you weren’t being told to isolate then why get a test if you have no symptoms?
I’m trying hard not to be judgemental ,I know we all make mistakes, but, based on what you’ve posted here, you’ve left yourself wide open to be sacked.

Re: Track and Trace
Oh god you have really effed up there.
You've ignored strict rules that were put in place to protect yourself and others.
Based on what you've said, your best bet might be to hold your hand up, say you didn't realise the seriousness of the situation, and hope for the most serious sanction short of dismissal. But obviously people dealing with your case might know more.
Good luck.

Re: Track and Trace
Why did you have a test with no symptoms? Are you saying you got pinged by the track & trace app?

Re: Track and Trace
Have you been suspended because you van shared? Or because you went to work whilst awaiting a Covid test result? Or for van sharing despite knowing you had tested positive?

If you do not have symptoms, you must not seek a test, as the scientific evidence shows that the test may not be able to detect whether you have the virus.

Re: Track and Trace
I think the point isn't why he went for the test but why having felt enough at risk to go for a test he then decided to go to work.aiden01 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021, 12:31Do you honestly believe that everyone who has been tested have been showing symptoms. just aswell op got a test as he tested positive.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021, 21:26https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-an ... oronavirus

Re: Track and Trace
I think whats happened is he has booked a test on false pretences just out of curiosity to see if he had it or not and thats what has made him go into work i.e not thinking he had it
Its came back and booted him right in the swingers
And thats not even getting into the van sharing with a colleague while infected matter
What on earth were you thinking?!
