New P739 designed to benefit colleagues and customers
A trial is underway in five customer service points (CSPs) using a simplified P739 ‘Something for you’ card that will benefit customers and colleagues alike, writes Paul Smith.
Starting this week (from Monday 25 January), five units - Burgess Hill & Hassocks, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Crawley and Pulborough - will be testing a simplified version of the card. The trial will last for four weeks.
The units have been chosen to represent a mixture of sizes, locations, and styles of CSPs. Colleagues taking part will give feedback at the close of the trial and help shape any further changes to the P739 cards, with a new version set to be rolled out nationally later this year.
Deployment lead, Joshua Nadarajan, said: ‘The new design has benefits to customers, delivery postmen and women and our colleagues in CSPs.’
The changes made to the card for the trial include:
- More space to write neighbour or Safeplace details. This will allow the removal of the “delivered to neighbour” (P6721) slip, meaning fewer cards taken on delivery
More prominent CSP address, providing clearer messaging to our customers
Customer details moved to the back of the card, simplifying the CSP process
Greater emphasis on guiding customers to Royal Mail’s digital channels – either the app or website – to book redeliveries and check opening times
Inclusion of more spaces for item barcodes to be written
A slightly smaller design to a standard A6 size. Despite the smaller size, all printed text is a larger font size than the existing card, which will increase legibility.
