Royal Mail warning as delivery disrupted across Peterborough due to Covid

Large areas of Peterborough will see delays in receiving their deliveries

Royal Mail has warned some Peterborough residents that their post may be disrupted due to 'resourcing issues' today, January 27.

In an update posted to their website, Royal Mail warned that "deliveries may be disrupted in some areas due to resourcing issues in a number of our delivery offices."

They have put this down to not just resourcing issues but "associated self-isolation" which will lead to disruptions this week for selected Peterborough postcodes.

It is thought that this could be due to some workers having to self-isolate either after testing positive for Covid-19 or coming into contact with someone who has, leaving the service lower on staff numbers than they would like.

The PE1 and PE3, PE4, PE5 and PE6 postcodes are all impacted by this.

In an update on their website, Royal Mail said: "We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

"Please be assured we're working hard to deliver a comprehensive service as possible."

If you live in one of the affected postcodes and are expecting a delivery via Royal Mail they have asked people to be patient as they do their best to deliver their services "during these challenging times."

If you've missed a delivery and a 'Something for you' card has been left it's worth checking opening times for their local delivery office as these have changed due to coronavirus.

The Peterborough Delivery Office and Mail Centre, on Papyrus Road, Peterborough, is open and operating however they have altered their opening hours to keep staff and customers safe.

They are now open:

Monday: 8am - 10am

Tuesday: 8am - 10am:

Wednesday: 8am - 12 noon

Thursday: 8am - 8pm

Friday: 8am - 12 noon

Saturday: 8am - 2pm

Sunday: 11am - 3pm
