What's the churn rate at your craphole like?

So with the pandemic and all the many jobs that have gone because of covid what is your office like for new entrants staying on for any amount of time?

We've had quite a few of the older posties leave through ill health and probably more getting sacked because the managers at ours are given free reign by incompetent cwu arselickers, so about six months ago we was about 20 bodies down over the office , so they start recruiting newbies, and they just don't last... we have a higher churn rate than the Red Army at Stalingrad.. so if it's so bad out in the `real world` why is the leave rate so bad, or is it just that I'm in a particular bad shithole?

I know we all went through it, some worse than others, but there is just no training for new starters. Especially now, it's literally throw them in at the deep end. They need to be working with someone or at least Given realistic work loads for at least a month just so they aren't under pressure from the get go as there less likely to know how much to take etc. We all know it gets slightly easier with experience. So people who know their rounds inside out are still be overwhelmed. Imagine joining now and being chucked on with no training.

The churn has alway been high at ours. They either find it too hard or their face doesn’t fit.

Ours I guess like most little units out in the sticks is very good,all left through retirement after 30/40 years,so turnover of staff is really good,and of course that counts for nothing,people very much set in there ways on the duties that they are on,and we dare not rock their boat!with the boss and his classic line well if you don’t like it then leave!

I thought they got more training now than we ever did I got 2 days then out on my own.surely they get more than that?.

Talking about newbies, nearly all the recent newbies in my office are female, is it because it's only females who are applying, or is it because RM is being PC so it can have a more "diverse" workforce

Does anyone ever tell them that when it comes to PT being made up to FT it's the PT with the most seniority that gets first dibs?

I do work in a crap hole. Filth, everything broken, 6 toilets all blocked in a row, dust and cold. Fat manager stands and stares at the workers in a scene from victorian times. Before the casuals took over and everyone wore a uniform I used to think that the workforce changed by a third every two years. Now I dont know exactly who is a manager and who isn't. I think there are now casual managers on overtime. Tried to remember all the managers who have left since my time at Bristol Mail Centre, may have missed some going on other shifts. It was 104. Only 3 were arrested though which led to them leaving.

Same in my D.O. probably 80=90 percent of new starters are female, I'm guessing some genius jobsworth in HR has identified a gender imbalance in the workforce (no s**t Sherlock) and has set targets to meet, so RM are now positively discriminating in favour of females when recruiting.
