Time off for vaccine
At some point, maybe soon, we're all going to get given an appointment for jabs.
Doubt we'll have much choice about the time and place, so we'll need time off for it (maybe not long, but it will vary)
Any word from RM on how they'll handle this? Surely they won't make us take a whole day leave / unpaid? Have the CWU asked about it?

You need to be a responsible adult and get vaccinated. You may not be concerned about catching covid and be happy taking your chances how seriously it affects you but what gives you the right to risk passing it on to other people, bearing in mind that no vaccine is claiming 100% efficacy ?

I have received this response to a similar question posed in December.sindba wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 18:49At some point, maybe soon, we're all going to get given an appointment for jabs.

Q. Assuming Medical Facilities give you the appointment time & date , and this clashes with your shift, how will RM deal with this situation. Would Royal Mail class as unpaid the time off to attend or would RM request, if it were possible, you arrange an appointment on an alternative day at an out of work time.
A. The decision is that the current guidance for medical appointments will apply, employees will be expected to book the vaccination outside of working hours if they are unable to arrange this it would be a change of rest day/ hours, unpaid special leave or annual leave

Are there any negative long term side effects with regard to taking the Vaccine?Zicomurphy wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 22:12You need to be a responsible adult and get vaccinated. Also even if you are Vaccinated it is not known whether it can stop you from catching and passing on the virus, it just reduces the severity of the symptoms.
So if you want get the jab go for it but don't try and use emotional blackmail to coerce other people into having it against their will.

Re: Time off for vaccine
From GOV.UK
Can you give COVID-19 to anyone if you have had the vaccine?
The vaccine cannot give you COVID-19 infection, and a full course will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill. We do not yet know whether it will stop you from catching and passing on the virus, but we do expect it to reduce this risk. So, it is still important to follow the guidance in your local area to protect those around you.
To protect yourself and your family, friends and colleagues you still need to:
practice social distancing
wear a face mask
wash your hands carefully and frequently
follow the current guidance
