More time on Delivery - Is this in the new agreement?
I've been waysiding this week, so meeting my colleague at the first loop and then get paid 5 hours from when I actually deliver my first letter. Obviously, 5 hours to deliver 6 bags of mail and help out with the oversized parcels by taking them in a trolley is just about enough time in my opinion. However, for the driver, despite them being on a 31-hour contract, they are paid from 8:30 - 9:30 to bag up a walk, load everything into the van and then from 9:30 - 15:00 to deliver 6 bags of mail, plus a lot of oversized parcels.
The main problem here is that we aren't delivering our first letter until around 10:30, or in some cases 11:00. This means that, although I have plenty of time, they only have 4 - 4.5 hours to deliver everything, which especially now that the volume of parcels will no doubt be increasing, is not enough time!
I've been trying my best to help out as I feel the workload isn't equal at all between us two, unless, like I say, I take a trolley on every loop, along with the oversized parcels in the other bag to help out.
I think we should get paid 5 hours from when we start our first letter and also 2 hours (on a busy day) to bag up, load van and drive to the start point, so 7 hours for a delivery instead of 4.5 - 5 hours. I really hope the new agreement highlights this, or someone who is in the Union could pass this message on.
If I were the driver on this or most duties in fact, I would simply not be able to complete everything in time, unless the majority of oversized were taken off me as I'm only 25 hours, so 5 hours to bag a walk up, load van AND deliver everything.

You always start on time at your office regardless of how much mail/parcels there is. Either work to your time and follow the cut off procedure or agree overtime and book off when your are back at the office

You get paid for the hours you work, not the work you do

Remember in your 5 hour working day, 30 minutes of that is your paid meal break time.

The Union leadership is not interested in the actual real-world problems of the avarage postie ( double or triple lapsing 11 months of the year / overload of indoor work / no heating indoors / etc etc etc ). They are too busy back-slapping about their pet project of reducing the hours of the working week, meaning you have less time to complete the same amount ( later and later finishes or cut off ).

The Union isn’t there to hold your hand or to tell you when to eat and drink. I can’t say it too many times YOU HAVE A FINISH TIME!!!!JKSmudge wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 16:36The Union leadership is not interested in the actual real-world problems of the avarage postie ( double or triple lapsing 11 months of the year / overload of indoor work / no heating indoors / etc etc etc ). Nothing will change with the new agreement. The only people more deluded than RM are the CWU.
Just wait until we have revisions and the figures say that all offices need more hours/staff - we get none and don't get the SWW.
VOTE NO.

Why so spikey? - yes we have a finish time ( sick of hearing the same old mantra ). Most of us also like to complete our walk ( call it a sense of duty / pride in our work..... ).number one wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 16:52The Union isn’t there to hold your hand or to tell you when to eat and drink. That is a wonderful quote from someone who has bragged on here continuously about how they finish early and how much ghost docket they do.number one wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 16:52

And don't shout at us. It is incredibly ignorant of you.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If they are only starting to pay you from the first letter you deliver then insist on going to the office and travelling - stuff that, they are shafting you big time
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Why moan about the lapsing then? If more posties cut off then there wouldn't be lapsing and there'd be a better chance of hours being put back into an officeJKSmudge wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 19:41Why so spikey? - yes we have a finish time ( sick of hearing the same old mantra ). I haven't been travelling to my DO this week, just meeting my colleague at the first loop once they turn up in the van and then dead walking to each other loop, hence why I've had enough time, yet he hasn't sadly.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 20:09If they are only starting to pay you from the first letter you deliver then insist on going to the office and travelling - stuff that, they are shafting you big time

Thats what im saying - insist on going into the office and be paid to travel to the walk and back - by only paying you from the minute you start delivering so the entire span of your working day is out on foot is them doing you over.edward918 wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 22:47I haven't been travelling to my DO this week, just meeting my colleague at the first loop once they turn up in the van and then dead walking to each other loop, hence why I've had enough time, yet he hasn't sadly.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 20:09If they are only starting to pay you from the first letter you deliver then insist on going to the office and travelling - stuff that, they are shafting you big time

Re: More time on Delivery - Is this in the new agreement?
Oh well you don't care about cutting off so why should anyone else care about you having to do lapsing and when RM eventually add more delivery points to your walk?JKSmudge wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 16:33Why 'moan' about anything then genius - I refer you to my previous comment....SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 20:23Why moan about the lapsing then?
