Do Royal Mail still allow sabbaticals?

Post by nightcrawler »

I know someone in RM who did it years ago, just wondered if they still allowed it. I realise you wouldn’t be paid. Also, if they do, how much notice do you have to give and what is the minimum and maximum time you can have off? Also do you keep your seniority?

I heard you loose your seniority if you chose to go on a sabbatical, HR might be able to shed some light

Anyone know how soon before you want the sabbatical do you have to apply?

Is there a minimum period the sabbatical has to be? 3 months, 6 months?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Can anyone tell me what the procedure is to get your contracted hours changed? I'm currently on a 24hr contract, I've been offered a university place and would like to take it up. Was wondering if it would be possible to have my contract changed to 6hrs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
