Clocking in and out entry system
These new clocking in and out entry systems that are coming in at our depots....
What is the purpose?
I'd be surprised if it's for security / safety, but maybe it is simply for this.
Do any depots have them currently? and if so are these entry systems keeping track of your overtime?

If you read the agreement it is not used for pay purposesnorris9 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2020, 21:07These new clocking in and out entry systems that are coming in at our depots....

Scan In/Out data will not be used for the automatic reduction of contractual pay or
allowances based on data captured, or to reduce overtime pay where a (verbal)
contract has been agreed with the manager prior to commencement.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Clocking in and out entry system
yes its not as simple as it wont be used for any purpose, i for one wish it would be used for pay, although it will not be feasable when the shorter working week comes about, they will not be wishing to pay for the extended delivery daily. what it will look at as it says in the new agreement is the magic word" resourcing" where perhaps an hour or more spare daily, the other magic word "revisions " watch this space.on the good side it looks like and it should be seeing the masses and volumes we have now been delivering since the pandemic started, is that there will be no forced redundancies
down side longer outside spans of deliveries, not so good for our physical well being , i wonder what the senior company doctor thinks of this, will most defineately lead to more injuries and breakdowns ,but i hope this agreement works it should take care of the business for years to come merry christmas.

About bloody time, sign on sheets have to be kept for 6 years and thats a s**t load of paper for no reason. much easier to keep it in digital format and less open to corruption.

They don't do role call during any evacuation now, they stopped doing so a few years ago2yearpostie wrote: ↑23 Dec 2020, 08:09in case of emergency to see who is in the building/on delivery quickly

I think management only did it to see who bothered coming out.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Dec 2020, 09:52They don't do role call during any evacuation now, they stopped doing so a few years ago2yearpostie wrote: ↑23 Dec 2020, 08:09in case of emergency to see who is in the building/on delivery quickly
It's never been a recognised fire safety protocol precisely because nobody can be arsed filling them in so the information is useless.

Re: Clocking in and out entry system
It should be used for payroll why not?
I wish it would be used for payroll. With management bullies still in place old timers with easy walks get to clock off early and get paid for not working, whilst newbies are bullied into working unpaid overtime. Current system in our DO works for the old timers and shafts the newbies.
Roll on a new system. Gotta be fairer than the current one.

You would have to be very naive or trying to kid the troops if you think Royal Mail will go to all this expense to save some paper.
They're not idiots.

Re: Clocking in and out entry system
not really 99.9% of other uk and indeed worldwide business use a digital clock in and out system, in fact the factory my dad worked at had one and that closed down 15 years ago and they only had 6 employees!

It will certainly provide them with all of the data that they need to increase the size of duties in the annual revisions.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑23 Dec 2020, 13:07You would have to be very naive or trying to kid the troops if you think Royal Mail will go to all this expense to save some paper.

Some idiot smugly clocking out an hour early each day won't have their pay deducted, but from the next revision you can bet that they won't be finishing early any more.
