Re: How is your office and do you thing it will clear
I will give my reasons as thus in three short bursts
One lack of planning it was obvious this year more than most would be the biggest challenge in eternity.
Two worn out staff with lack of morale even soldiers are taken out of combat to recoup but someone don't care
Three is a combination of the first two and with lack of clarity of our future and worth to the business and on going pay and terms that were not fulfilled by the abrogation of the last agreement is it any wonder why we are where we are!

i for one agree wholely with the union about saving jobs, pay ,terms and conditions, but at this time of the year in all weather conditions etc. our business, our people , try their very best to deliver the mail , all the mail letters ,packets, to help the country, especially this year, not for the managers .ceo s , for the children and the people of our country , at this probably most crucial time of the year, with all thats happened this year, i know its taken its toil on us, but we are nearly there , enoy your christmas

I am leaning towards your opinion. At the end of the day this is special time for most families and even though we are all battered, for me at least it is nice to see happy families and kids receiving their packets. This is who I am trying to go the extra mile for and also it is an opportunity to clock some overtime too and pay for your own Christmas.1617mel wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 05:17i for one agree wholely with the union about saving jobs, pay ,terms and conditions, but at this time of the year in all weather conditions etc. our business, our people , try their very best to deliver the mail , all the mail letters ,packets, to help the country, especially this year, not for the managers .ceo s , for the children and the people of our country , at this probably most crucial time of the year, with all thats happened this year, i know its taken its toil on us, but we are nearly there , enoy your christmas![]()
At the end of the day a well delivered Christmas can play into our hands too. Surely they couldn't say we are losing money over Christmas and next half years results should be a lot stronger in terms of revenue for sure so CWU can have some advantage in negotiation.
Yes I believe our office will clear but there are a couple of walks clogged up with untracked parcels but I can tell managers are planning to push it out before deadline of 24th Dec.

Yes but very few on delivery. Anyone who works on front line saw this coming late Sept. Pity nobody told national planners.

Re: How is your office and do you thing it will clear
I don't think my office will clear. 2 complete walks failed today, staff left in mail on another half dozen duties, and I don't think any mail has gone out on the 2 walks they attempted to lapse today....yes, I did just write that!
The office is snowed under and would be far worse if a plenty of peeps didn't mind going over their time. However, a bullying management culture that has crept in over the last few years has ensured that not everybody will do it these days.

The problem we have is that at the moment although delivery is very busy it's the mail centres, hubs and outhouses that are overwhelmed. A backlog is being created and if the volume of parcels entering the network doesn't decrease significantly next week offices may clear on Christmas eve but a mountain of stuff might not even make it that far.

I left in October but talking to one of the posties from my office they've been given 13 casuals to deliver packets in the afternoon. This from an office of just 75 staff. Mind you, one of them has already written one of the vans off.

Not a chance.
The failure to make the changes required to lessen the impact of going to 1 per van has cost them big time.
Several duties in ours didn't deliver a single letter today.

Re: How is your office and do you thing it will clear
Just what I was about to say. The problem is getting it out of the mail centres. I think they already know they are not going to clear at our office as they are asking for people to work on Sunday 27th. With a large part of the country entering the new tier 4 tomorrow the amount of special delivery’s is seriously going to sky rocket as the shop are shut again and the people who haven’t got themselves organised will have no choice but to pay it. You only have to drive past a post office to see there is going to be no let up, the 2 I have been past this morning there must have been 30 - 40 outside waiting to get in.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 12:22The problem we have is that at the moment although delivery is very busy it's the mail centres, hubs and outhouses that are overwhelmed. To be honest our office wasn't doing too bad until two went off sick this week. We're a small sub office so this has really hit us hard. It's definitely not going to be cleared this week. Tracked and specials, packets and parcels given priority with letters limping in last I reckon.

WTF, lapsing during the busiest time in supposably RM history. This is a testimony to the utter incompetence of management.Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 12:21I don't think my office will clear. 2 complete walks failed today, staff left in mail on another half dozen duties, and I don't think any mail has gone out on the 2 walks they attempted to lapse today....yes, I did just write that!

Re: How is your office and do you thing it will clear
The volume of SDs normally goes through the roof anyway the last couple of days before Xmas. For the whole of the upcoming week in MCs I reckon on every shift we'll have any SD locker trained staff in the SD lockers, irrespective of any other work areas that would be left short of staff. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out if a good chunk of the SD locker trained staff that don't normally work in the SD locker are also mech trained as the sequencing batches are still massive. It might be that we'll have to revert to walk sort only if the mech loses too many staff to the SD lockerGrumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 17:46With a large part of the country entering the new tier 4 tomorrow the amount of special delivery’s is seriously going to sky rocket as the shop are shut again and the people who haven’t got themselves organised will have no choice but to pay it.
