Dreading coming back from day off

Its busiest month of the year and the dread of taking a day off as more than likely my walk wont be covered on my day off, is this happening elsewhere, its so stressful , easy enough to say work to time, but where the hell do u start when u come in and see a mountain of parcels,double letters, how can u judge to ur time, its out of order and shouldn't be happening at this time of year, may as well go 5 days seems we are already there

You tell them you’re not gonna complete and await their instructions. An hour before your finishing time assess what you have left and decide what your gonna bring back.

The whole thing is a mess mate union don't care RM couldn't care ya management couldn't care unfortunately it's now your turn it's not right I get where u r coming from and us who are at the bottom of the pay order in all this are supposed to manage the lot just work 2 your time mate tracked and specials and take letters where u are going with them that's what its come 2 .....

It is the privilege of management to make decisions that is what they get paid for. Just turning up would help them and yourself and work colleges no end of good carry on soldier!

All of the above. Decide how long you want to work, say your hrs or do an hr over or whatever. Then ask what do you want me to definitely deliver? Usually answer is tracked and mail or all pkts and leave some mail. If first answer, asses if it can be done, if it's your regular walk you should know, if it can't be done ,say you will probably have to skip some mail, do you want me to take it out and bring back what I can't manage or leave it in the frame? It is impossible to do 2 days of everything so don't feel bad. If customers ask, tell them the truth, it's not up to you, management are failing walks NOT you. You are just having your much needed rest day. In my experience 2 days of mail doesn't take a massive amount of time longer as it's pretty much 90% call rate anyway this time of yr, on my walk it is at least. Just makes you maybe need 2 bags a loop instead of one. Just wheel your leftover pkts to the manager and say I probably won't have time to catch up with these so I need them out of my way at my frame, where do you want me to put them?. Always ask what THEY want you to do, don't TELL them , put it on the manager. You can't do any more than what you can do. It's quite liberating to think ok, this is best case scenario what I can do, and work to that, instead of stressing about clearing everything.

Oh and don't prep any small tracked into frame, just in case you have to leave a loop. Saves trawling through bags so as not to miss tracked. I put tracked in one york and normal oversized in another usually it's about 50/50. In case they say leave standard oversized.

Of course it should be covered totally agree but its obviously being left for him to pick up the pieces.i got told the same so begrudgingly worked my day off so I wasn't shafted.unfortunately this company likes to do that sort of thing to its employees.
