Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
Are you just spamming the board now?
"The union" is not HQ.
The union is the membership.
Nobody is questioning the ideas and ethos of a union nor the historic achievements of the trade union movement.
What you mean is get behind the current leadership.
That's an entirely different question and to justify that you have to list their specific individual achievements and not shy away from the detrimental changes and lack of progress under their tenure.
You cannot simply try to piggyback on the achievements of those that have gone before.
It's dishonest to try to hide failures behind the simplistic argument that you're either for us or against us. You also cannot demand support, you have to earn it.

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
Membership levels in the CWU are relatively stable as a percentage of employed members and the vast majority of reductions are the result of people leaving the business so your main argument that people not "getting behind the union" is undermining our terms and conditions falls flat. Very few members who say they will leave the union actually do and most come back eventually because they know it offers a level of protection even if it's just on a personal level.
The membership have given the CWU record levels of support over the last few years every time they have been asked to so any failure to protect or secure the benefits members deserve falls entirely at the feet of the current leadership and they deserve to be called out for it.
They should never be allowed to hide behind the fact that the trade union movement has historically provided members with better terms and more security than non unionised industries.
That is really how to undermine a union. Sitting back and living on someone else's past victories.

Amazon pay £15/day?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

100% behind our union and respect to all of it hard working members.
If it wasn't for our union royalmail would implement all the shite they want to without any agreement and would be a race to the minimum wage , no sick pay , crap Vr terms , new starts on crap contracts this list could go on for ages
Stuart Simpson must think our heads button up at the back , I'm working with the union he ain't no different to Rico back
Back your Union it's a no brainer

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
I disagree with many of the things the union do, how it's run and the current leadership. I disagree with them supporting organisations like Momentum and the Labour party (I've opted out of the poltics funding bit). That said, I've always paid my subs and will continue to do so; I'd always vote to strike, and take the action if it's legal. Why? Coz I can see the wood from the trees. We earn 12 - 13 quid an hour because of the union, get six months sick pay, paid paturnity ect ect. You're always better off with a union, even if you disagree with much of what it does and how it runs. What is leaving it actually gonna achieve? Short of saving you about a tenna a month or whatever it is.

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
The Leadership is NOT the Union ! On the whole, the members have voted for all recommendations by leadership over past few years in massive numbers but have been let down several times.
People are losing faith in TP partly due to the woeful lack of communication.
As for some of your nonsensical claims... Amazon £15 day... really?
Working to finish time ? Great - bring it on, would love to be working 7/8 hours a day rather than 10/11.

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
In terms of negotiations the union needs to get behind us and desist from pushing ridiculous concepts such as us delivering food, medicines, and becoming social workers. We also don't need the usual results where we get a pay rise(or even just a bribe!) and in return another ridiculous concept such as absorption or bench merging foisted onto us.
The main reason for joining the union is as an insurance policy to protect yourself from unfounded accusations brought against you by RM. There is probably no other reason to be in the union given what they achieve nationally.

Absolutely.
The union leadership seem just as out of touch with the reality of day to day life working for RM as the directors of RM appear to be. Both could do with displaying some actual leadership rather than empty promises and rhetoric on the one hand and wilful ignorance on the other.

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
Ceglar you are right. For the sole reason you have mentioned it is worth to continue to pay subs and stay with the union. Let just hope that union leaders will acknowledge the fact that many paying members are really upset due to lack of information on the fundamental issues we are having at the moment. Especially during this difficult time.

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
This dispute could have been sorted last year with strikes around September now it is not so sure we can strike or get a good deal. The union missed the boat and we are all stranded on the cusp of a precipice of a cliff not knowing if it is safe to jump 800 feet into the boat without a parachute!

Re: GET BEHIND YOUR UNION!!!
I would love to get behind the union and kick the useless good for nothing f*****s up the arse, i have been in the job over twenty five years and was a union man for about twenty of them, years ago nothing could change in your delivery office unless it was discussed with the union now things change on a weekly basis, i basically got fed up of the union telling you that if it wasn't for them things would be so different, i hate to say it its just not true anymore.
These days the union claims victory for pitiful wage rises that always come with worst working conditions as for the shorter working week it just means more work but less time to do it in, i just treat this job (which i like) as a means to and end.
