Had an OH referral 3 weeks ago, yet I feel I'm being put under more pressure. It's unavoidable during this time of year in Royal Mail I know, however, I've been told my hours will be from 1pm - 6pm all next week on a duty I've never done before. I'll be starting at 1pm due to our office not having enough vans available.

I've addressed my concerns to the Manager via text who told me this, explaining how firstly, it makes no sense to start at 1pm due to it getting dark by 4pm. Secondly, I have no idea where I'll be going on the duty and finally, I'll no doubt have to bring loops/normal parcels back to the office all week, therefore I'll be putting myself under more increasing pressure. Should Management be doing this to me, despite knowing about my Occupational Health report which clearly states "X would benefit from a smaller delivery office"?

Haven't had a reply yet, hoping I can be put back onto the walk I was covering all this week. The main issue here is the start and finish time and not having enough daylight to see where I'm going Am I able to state to Management how I'll simply be too stressed out or find the particular duty too much and therefore be moved off the duty I'm meant to be covering next week?

I could and would be happy to do that, however, the postie that's on the other paired walk is notorious for staying out until 6pm/7pm each day and having an hour-long break, despite being contracted to start at 8am. Not making this up at all, it really is bizarre. Obviously, I don't want to be constantly waiting around for him and dead walking to each loop.

Think im in the right saying that is why the job is basically f--ked in delivery from many years ago when a lot of staff used their own cars.

It would be very unfortunate if you had an incident in the dark and could not work again till when?

Almost all of the staff at my DO are using their cars on delivery. I'll continue to get pressured by Management to do that, however, I'm not insured to use my car for work purposes, so I'll say no to using my car. I don't mind going on an unfamiliar walk when it's light outside, however, being asked to start at 1pm and finish at 6pm on a walk I don't know makes no sense!?

Relayed my concerns to my Union rep who will hopefully come to a logical and sensible agreement with Management and I on Monday morning.

Why not a phased return to work ie partime indoor work for a month or two and see how you go?

take the mail out in your car for the time being no use getting stressed out over this take enough to last till your time hundreds of postmen are doing it due to lack of vans hopefully you will not get messed around so much think of your health not the right or wrong way of doing things

1. That's gross misconduct possibly leading to immediate dismissal, we have never had permission from Royal Mail to carry any mail in a private vehicle.... ever.

2. It's also illegal even with the most expensive top of the line multi-drop insurance because you don't have your employer's permission. Non valid insurance can cost you a fine, a ban and in some cases your vehicle.

I'll speak to Management about having a phased return to work. Is this the correct procedure after having an OH referral? No idea what time I'm meant to start at today, currently sitting around waiting for instructions. Trying my best to go back onto the duty I was on last week, or at least start at 11am and finish at 4pm on the duty I'm not familiar with.

Management are aware of what's been going on with regards to my mental and physical health, yet they feel it's acceptable to think I'll just "Put up and shut up" and agree to being moved around at the busiest time of year. Completely out of order. I'm so close to quitting my job because of my shambles of an office
