26th December
I have just been told that all reserves will be forced to take Saturday 26th December as their day off and it's a NAtional directive from RM? Any truth in the rumor?

Re: 26th December
I did say this would happen. I am Saturday off as my scheduled day off that week and have been quite vocal on here about the injustice of giving over 75% of the workforce an extra day off that week while the rest neither get the extra day or get the hrs back in lieu. It was quite obvious to save money, that all reserves would be 'given' Saturday off that week. It's saving royal mail about £85 for each full timer. The Cwu understand and fully accept this too.

Re: 26th December
This surely cannot be right..... can it? How can you not be entitled to a day in lieu?

Re: 26th December
My day of falls on the Saturday the 26th and Monday 28th. If this is the case as stated in a number of threads on here I am really angry about it.
In recognition for all your hard work throughout the pandemic, lockdown and Christmas preasure you will receive 1 day off less of over the festive period compared to 5/6ths of your colleagues. How can that be right?

Re: 26th December
if its a "non service day" then everyone given the saturday off should be entitled to payment / day off in lieu ?nightcrawler wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 17:04
I think the Saturday (26 Dec) is classed as a “non-service day”.

Re: 26th December
You only get paid for holidays and bank hols when you're off. This is a non service day. Not getting paid on a non service day is not a new thing. It's been happening for years and lots of us have been unfortunate enough for it to fall on our day off. It's the way it is.Postie45 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 20:04if its a "non service day" then everyone given the saturday off should be entitled to payment / day off in lieu ?nightcrawler wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 17:04

it's just tough if it is your scheduled saturday off, i've "not gained" from 1 in the past, rota days off that day aren't losing out, they're just not gaining anything,
the only ones who can feel aggrieved are reserves who've not had a saturday off in months then suddenly get 1.
my advice to them if they feel that fed up with it is to refuse all overtime as soon as the rota goes up confirming so

Re: 26th December
Exactly. I raised the issue with justsayit and got a reply a week later basically saying tough, suck it up, you might get lucky next time round. This is appaling.magicfinger wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 17:30My day of falls on the Saturday the 26th and Monday 28th. If one party is gaining then the other party is, relatively speaking losing , whether or not they were meant to be having the day off. What about someone who was Wednesday off that week getting that Wednesday off, then going in on Saturday to GET PAID to do covid tests? Surely you can't say this is right?world class male wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 20:34this needs admin to merge threads

Re: 26th December
83% of my colleagues are gaining something over me and everyone else who is off on Saturday 26th December, rota or reserve, it makes no difference. We are loosing out which ever way you look at it.rambo1 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 20:59If one party is gaining then the other party is, relatively speaking losing , whether or not they were meant to be having the day off. Re: 26th December
I'm a 1 in 6 week off, my next one falls Xmas week so obviously I'm going to lose out on the Saturday, but to be fair I'm going to take it on the chin and accept it. I think of it this way, when I'm off sick for a week they are still giving me my full rota week off, so am gaining a day. I will still book Xmas day as overtime though as getting a day off they owe you at our place in s near enough impossible
