Advanced mail today

Post by 2yearpostie »

Heard a lot of delivery offices are being opened today to allow the local mc to start parcels into them as well the normal loads in the morning, are we expecting it to be bad everywhere tmorrow?

Well when I got back to my office after delivery on Saturday there was about 12 York’s of packets unsorted for Monday. So yeah I’m assuming tomorrow and this week is going to be unlike anything we have experienced before in Royal Mail.

Almost all DOs receive feeds on Sunday all through the year.
They don't need to be "opened up".
The drivers have keys.

Possibly the start of all shifts in MCs processing both inward and outward at the same time so more space needed to have both inward and outward set-ups going at the same time

They have apparently had 600’s running into ours for most of the day dropping off as they didn’t have any lorry’s free to move the stuff out of the mail centre. Sounds like the motherload will be awaiting in the morning.

Ah, this explains why my DOM cancelled one of the 3 night shift packet sorting duties, scrapped the Sunday parcel deliveries and stopped the part timers coming in early to prep their own walks. When I left at 7.00am, there was still 20 yorks of tracked packets waiting to be done, 6 yorks of red-sleeves, oh, and the final lorry which brings the specials and another 12-14 yorks was only 3 hours late. :cuppa

How you out at 7am? Do you work in normal DO?

So of the DOs in our area don't get their mail before 07:30 (due to final dispatch times and the distance from the MC)
