SPDO forced closure.
Hi we are a small SPDO and have been threatened with closure for years, however a couple of weeks ago we had a positive Corona virus case and because we are a small office everyone had to isolate except for one poor guy who was holiday, he came back to work to find the office stacked with mail, however that's not my point, head management blew there top as mail was not going out for days and basically everything was a mess, because we are a small office they say we cannot social distance and we will have to move to our parent office 12 miles away, its a bit late to go on about social distance now but they have finally got there excuse now to shut us. A stormy meeting took place last week and they basically told us we could be moved at the end of this week and its tough s**t its happening, things have gone quiet so far this week and so has the union. What I want to ask is can they just move us with no notice and no consultation ? in terms of notice what is the official time frame they should give us to move offices ? some lads it won't make a difference to as they drive to the office anyway but I know at least 2 of the lads who will have to buy a car and will create great hardship to them, we all need a reasonable amount of time to get things sorted. Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: SPDO forced closure.
You are right , they are just looking an excuse to close your office.
Offices are failing mail all the time. It was probably the manager at your parent office who had responsibility for having processes and procedures in place to keep you all protected at this time. Has he or she fulfilled their responsibility?
Remember, ALL spdo's are not closing because of covid and some will be smaller or larger than your office. In our office we have staggered the starting time and the manager has put in an extra conveyance of mail in the morning to help.
It is close to Christmas and they won't want a mess so DON'T ACCEPT THIS ACTION.
