How did they find out you did it or it could be that it was on it's way out? or criminal damage by an un known individual?

Your manager is an incompetent lazy bully who couldn't run a bath. Laugh in his or hers face, it works for me.FirstPost wrote:they saw me as I closed the lid, struggled to close the lid because of the trolley being full to the brimk979aaa wrote:How did they find out you did it or it could be that it was on it's way out? or criminal damage by an un known individual?

So you were performing your duties to the best of your ability by trying to take all due mail and the lid was probably degraded by the sun over the Couse of time and was past it's best. No would not pay them if they try Illegal deduction of wages you can get the union involved or take them to a small claims court yourself!

It's amazing how managers differ from office to office, if ours tried to pull that trick he'd be laughed out of town with a few choice words following.

Tell him to try it
They have insurance for things like this ( if even needed for a HCT ffs )
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

As the many posts on this subject have said, the trolly simply needs to fixed and a new lid put on,no dramas no boss giving it the big I am,just get it fixed and certainly don’t listen to his garbage,he’s laughable to say the least,he just has to manage it that’s his job

First post - I would seriously look at documenting all the things that happen between you and your manager, and if possible involve the CWU, perhaps even at Branch Level. Your manager is incompetent, untrained and vindictive. He also knows nothing about leadership and appears to think jumping all over people who make genuine mistakes is going to make them work better, or want to work with them at all
Perhaps even a grievance may be warranted if the behaviour continues.

Very much doubt he'll be in any position to charge you for repairs, but to play devils advocate for a moment, it does sound like you were possibly trying to ram the lid down on an overfilled HCT in a bit of a temper and ended up damaging it, in which case you could face a bit of a talking to, but surely nothing more.
If they do try to treat it any more seriously i.e. a conduct issue, then just say you're suffering from stress hence your momentary loss of temper.
