IF Royal mail agreed to pay for the insurance, would you be prepared to supply your own van ( inc fuel and maintenance) if it meant you could do your own walk on your own, at a time that suited you and job and knock returned?

Why would anyone want to take what would effectively be a pay cut?
Buying a van, maintenance and fuel coming out of our own pocket, ridiculous idea. We would end up being on less than minimum wage.

At current hourly pay rates?

No chance, makes no sense at all.

If it's on more per hour than what we get now and if you're handy enough with spanners to do all the servicing and maintenance yourself then it might make a bit more sense

But there's no way this kind of business model would operate on a salaried or paid per hour basis, it would be ''self employed'' and paid per item.

a lot of postman using their own cars at the minute its not new its what we did years ago doesnt suit everybody but if it makes the job manageable at the minute why not keeps the stress levels down as royal mail seem not to give a shight about creating a plan of action to deal with the problems of van sharing which is deffinately a no no at the minute they obviously have a plan to make this company look in total dissaray so they can do as they please with regards to the uso

lol you would hardly break even especially if your part time. Though having said that half my office would do it if it meant they could finish 15 mins early.

I don’t get this......... on many threads I read posties claiming that others in their office will do anything to get finished early. In our office we HAVE to stay to time every day. Even if someone is back an hour early and there is absolutely nothing to do they have to sit and wait until the very last minute so the incentive for people to rush round isn’t there.

Franchise might interest some if they went down that route like they did with milkmen.

I'd be careful for what you wish for. It wasn't that long ago that they were banding around the idea of OPG's owning their own deliveries etc. And TBH I still think that's the avenue they'll try and funnel you all down in the next few years and with the proposed introduction of only getting paid for the hours you work and deliveries being "adjusted" weekly they are still after that sort of zero hour gig economy working environment.

Yes, absolutely.

As long as it came with a 10 grand a year pay rise.
