New postie in the job for only a month. Love the job, walking on average 10 miles a day.
Developed shin splints in my right leg. So so painful. Having trouble walking now. This must be a common issue, have been iceing it and taking paracetamol. Any advice would be most helpful please

Try new footwear maybe the sole of the shoe is too firm for you. Doing so many miles in a day you need comfortable shoes the ones they provide are not fit for purpose.

Stuck with Royal Mail footwear for my first year, then got a note from my GP that said i had wide feet and needed to buy my own shoes.
The upshot is I get £35 toward my footwear paid through my salary and can do this every 6 months.
I've bought Clarks Trigenic goretex trainer boots for winter and there trainers for summer and now never have problems with soreness and aches
like i had until i dumped the RM clogs.

Not much you can do however there are a couple of Youtube videos which helped me get shut of them. One is to massage to put pressure on the muscle next to the shin with your thumbs and push down, do twenty of those. Also to stretch and hold yout muscle, sort of lean your hands on a door and try and push with your legs. I cant really explain as you need to go on youtube for those exercises. It will take around 5-6 weeks to get rid of them so get a docs note for light duties otherwise they will never go.

It is pain along the shin bone most frequently associated with long distance runners but anyone who begins or dramatically increases their exercise programme are possible victims.
Other main causes are flat feet and poor footwear.

If you had had it you would know because it hurts a lot.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
