due to various medical reasons, over the past couple of years my leave has been carried over and now I'm owed 7 weeks.
I was told in June that there were spaces left on the leave sheet and that they were going to put as much of my owed leave in as they could. Which was fine by me.
Now 2 weeks before I'm due on leave, I'm told that they've pulled all of the 6 weeks that they put on the leave sheet, and im not allowed them, as they're going back to the pre-covid plan.
Did anyone know where I stand with this? I have a copy of my leave card showing these weeks on it?

I wouldn't think they have a leg to stand on, might be better to post this in the union room section though to get a reps opinion.

They can cancel your leave but they must give you as much notice as you had leave. So they should be giving you six weeks notice. See your rep.

It's law. They can cancel if they have good reason to i.e. staff shortages but they must give as much notice as the length of the leave.aiden01 wrote:How are they allowed to cancel leave?? not disputing if they can but never heard of leave being cancelled.97gaz wrote:They can cancel your leave but they must give you as much notice as you had leave. Correct. An employer can cancel your leave but they have to give you the same amount of notice - if it’s a week holiday then you need a weeks notice, if it’s 3 days holiday then 3 days notice.97gaz wrote:It's law. I once had a line manager tell me on the Friday am I aware he can cancel my week holiday the following week. I told him I’m more than aware and he has every right to cancel my week off but is he aware by law he needs to give me a weeks notice, he soon walked away.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Folk are forgetting that as well as giving noticee they must have a good enough reason to do so and being short staffed is NOT a good enough reason. They might like you to THINK it is but unless they've exhausted other avenues (split it on overtime/volunteer works day off on overtime/spare from another office etc etc) they can not justify f***ing someone over (II mean justify it to someone other than their own conscience) I find a call to Area does wonders.

Don't want to make this a debate about other things but reading too much of this sh*thousery going on at the moment. So you've been ill and from no fault of your own your owed leave so your manager decides to penalise you for it! Get your rep straight on the case.
