ATOS ORIGIN.........home visit!

I am posting this on behalf of a colleague.
Sick leave for two weeks - doc' recommends not to drive- usual wish u were here letter recieved.
The we don't give A TOSS Origin interview was mentioned.
Due to medical circumstances colleague advised by G.P. not to leave home.
So. Manager suggests (We don't give) A TOSS Origin make appointment for a home visit.
Colleague is likely to need further recovery time sick note from G.P.
Surely this just cannot be right. Any rep's, informed posters on here know the stance on this?

you do not have to allow a toss across your threshold they have no right to visit you at home tell your manager that he's harrasing you and you intend to persue it when you return to work and you will duly inform him of when you are returning in due course and please do not ring me again !

But With ATOS as ive found.... You can give them your side of the story With Your GP's as well.... Get as much info on your health issues and make sure your DR is backing you... HOPEFULLY...?

Say to ATOS .. YES come and visit me.... As Axeman said.... "You dont have to let them across the threshold of your door"... Keep em there and make em wait To do the interview.... Get a nice seat and make it as hard as you can for em.... Hope its pissing down... Shut the door and make em talk thru he letter box....

I`m in a similiar postion but ATOS have only done two telephone consultations,and don`t hold out much hope on CWU helping you out either,as they`ve waved the white flag over RM and there `welfare`calls etc.

the tactic ATOS were using .was you MUST give the NHS permission to forward your medical records otherwise we'll stop your wages . I think that's illegal as it should be ONLY the records regarding your condition /illness and the current absence.

the other tactic is , if A toss don't get the records off the NHS , you are deemed to have no underlying reason for absences on Stage 2 /RTU .A Tosser sound terrified of RM HR & Senior /Area Mgt .

ATOS & the Resources Manager send you a "friendly warning" if they don't recieve any medical evidence.

Everything is quell surprise - so underhand . I've even spoken to BMA reps and they're not impressed with how we don't give A toss operate and that's saying something. I've never seen anything so amateurish & shoddy, the paperwork is riddled with factual errors , grammer & spelling mistakes .

All this rubbish about best practice etc . There's a few GP's & Specalists who don't like being dictated to by these cowboy contractors and find their actions to be arrogant & insulting. .

I told my GP about them trying to get a foot in the NHS door with diagnostic services and a walk in clinic near Piccadilly Station , Manchester , all thin end of the wedge stuff. The reality is New Liebour have bent the rules to get these firms to take over practices , so it means that the doctor , his practice nurses , admin staff will be through the door .

The Doctor 's is going to be a BMA member & his staff RCN/Unison .


Must be using some spotty faced kid to type all this stuff out to save money

I'd shop them to the General Medical Council as some members have and make some legal enquiries , and B&H the managers responsible if only to have evidence for later as RM never go against their own .

That would be a great idea. After all, ATOS are basically there to check if both you and your Doctor are telling the truth. The main problem that people seem to be having with ATOS (me included), is that they have a very biased view of "the truth". So, they will try to "find" holes in your story.

However, if you have a proper Doctor there at the time. You will be able to show them up for what they are!

It's a completely different story once you return to work however. Last year, I returned to work after being off with Depression. When the normal Rehab period had ended, I wanted to go back onto my normal Duty (FLT operator), but they wouldn't let me. Aparently, I had to be assessed before going back onto them. When I went to the appointment, it turned out to be a Nurse Practitioner, who obviously couldn't make that decision. She claimed that the appointment had been made with her, but I've seen the Email requesting a Doctor.

To cut a long story short. After 3 months of seeing the wrong people, and delays. I finally had to get a letter from my GP, to say that there was no reason for me to be kept off the equipment. Funny, how these kind of delays never happen when you are on Sick, isn't it?

We were told in WTL "Our" nurses & doctors can overule your GP/Specalist , We'll have some work out of you " The Union view is RM/DON'T GIVE A TOSS work on the basis youv'e a "good " doctor and the idea is to trip you up.
ATOS are apparently more qualified to state what you can or can't do as they are Occupational Health professonials who know your job instead of mere General Practioners /Specalists /Consultants etc ????"Our policy is to remove the barriers "

However they are very careful who they pick a fight with , I've seen people put on rehab for wisdom tooth removal and tonsils removal , the father won a ET against RM as the SM botched everything all the way through .-surprise ,surprise ?

. That's orders from Senior Mgt to be as PC/right on as possible to "certain people " in case of litigation .

I was told a few horror stories by a MOD clerk , the OHS lady doctor was not in the least bit sympathetic , a right bitch apparently , she felt she was on trial and the poor woman was in tears , especially in having to give details about embrassing women's problems .

the bit about calling don't give a toss's bluff & pulling rank on ATOS is spot on , I brought all the appointment letters as I'm still under the care of the Senior Specalist , the doctor was surprised to see geniunely ill people , so god knows what RM were filling ATOS staff's heads with .

The point is in the NHS , a Senior Consultant is quite rightly second only to GOD , also they're not paying indemity insurance & RCN + BMA subs for nothing . There's plenty of ambulance chasing solictors looking for neglect / misdiagnosis cases.

There's been cases where RM have been very obstructive /difficult but on leaving RM , they've been signed off by the DHSS doctors , these people don't take prisoners & are under pressure too.

I've have the same problem in my office a member is off with a grion problem, signed off by his Doc, but ATHOS who have never spoken to him have told RM that he is fit to return to work. He was sent a special delivery letter for him to attend a meeting with the sector manager. The postie was out and he went in to the office to collect the letter which told him he was to attend a meeting with the Sector manager that day. While collection the letter he was told by his line manager that he should return to work as ATHOS says he is fit to return. He told him that he had a ert from hi Doc for another week.Because he did not return to work he was stopped two days pay which the office refuse to pay him. Its now gone up to area level
