Royal Mail are Custodians of other people’s property this is bad practice and not a good for public relations.

Maybe ok for a one off situation but It’s inevitable that someone will try and break in the vans once they know we may keep parcels in the vans overnight
How are they going to explain if specials and tracked go missing ?

Ask your manager to put it in writing

Nothing new mate. Seen managers at old office say nothing about specials and parcels being left overnight in vans parked in public area of car park, as gates had been locked, because it was the overtime kings pulling them out of the $hit yet others get crucified for far less. Witnessed managers actively encouraging members of staff to use their own cars to deliver a loop or two of mail around where they lived on their way home to clear lapsed duties and members could finish early.

$hit like this will never stop till a) the company starts to make it easier for staff to report such incidents and take managers to task for doing it, b) staff stop doing any and everything to pull inept managers out of the $hit for a little pat on the head and a few minutes off the end of a working day.

Stop making life easy for these tin-pot Napoleons and expose them for what they really are, fooking useless.

There used to be a whistleblowing email address you could write to. You might find it somewhere on the forum.

As the other poster said pointless using the CWU a some of the reps just want an easier life so won't rock the boat. I've seen that happen when managers have been reported for breaking the law and area rep just accepted said managers "they must have misheard me" response even though there were over a dozen witnesses. That's a lot of misheard's

100000000% of the time, if someone breaks into your van at your property, damages it, nicks the parcels/mail held within, who's gonna get their arse handed to them?
