Can someone tell me what days we do not work this year? Boxing day falls on Saturday so I'm not sure how it falls

Christmas/Boxing day 2020
Specific to Saturday 26th December 2020FirstPost wrote:Can someone tell me what days we do not work this year? Boxing day falls on Saturday so I'm not sure how it falls
The following is edited from Ofcom decision in 2015.
Ofcom
An exception to Royal Mail’s universal service obligation - no requirement for deliveries and collections when 26 December falls on a Saturday.
Section 4
4 Ofcom’s assessment of Royal Mail’s request
Recommendation
4.1 Ofcom is minded to accept Royal Mail’s request for an exception to the universal service collection and delivery for:
• Saturday 26 December 2015, and
• when 26 December falls on a Saturday in future years, e.g. in 2020, until further notice.
LTB No. 769/15
Ref: 170 & 706A.06
Date: 2nd December 2015
EDIT:
Branches will also wish to note that Saturday 26th December has been sanctioned as a Non USO/Non Service day for Royal Mail by Ofcom. This means that there will be no deliveries or collections on that day.
However, it is not deemed to be a Bank or Public Holiday. The Bank Holidays fall on Friday, 25th and Monday, 28th December. There will be no days in lieu granted for staff not due to attend on the 26th.
This is the reason why Royal Mail supported by the CWU made an application to Ofcom for a Non USO/Non Service day. The application was then put out to public consultation and at the end of the consultation Ofcom made a decision to grant the non USO/non service day. They also agreed that this would continue in future when the 26th falls on a Saturday.
With regard to the 26th December, non Service/USO day Para 3.2 confirms the joint commitment that for Inland operations where staff are required to attend it is on a voluntary basis with any shortfall made up by use of other resourcing options. It should be noted however that the expectation is that the requirement to attend will be very low and staff who do attend will be paid at SA rate for all hours worked on the 26th December.

If Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, the following Monday and Tuesday are bank holidays.

For anyone working night shift, would we be back in on the Friday night, going into the Saturday once it's 00:00 Saturday as the Monday is the actual Bank Holiday (Boxing Day)?
I know that night shifts will be back on the Monday 28th going into the Tuesday once it's 00:00 on the Tuesday

As the Saturday isn't considered a working day, it flips to the Monday. Nice little break as it falls.

So do we have to use a day's annual leave for the Saturday ? or are we in effect getting a freebie day?

This is from LTB 2009;
Saturday 26th December 2009 will be a non-service day in Royal Mail. This means that anyone due to attend work on that day will not be required to work and, more importantly, there will be No Clawback of hours for those members concerned, in line with previous agreements. The Bank Holiday normally due on the 26th will now be re-scheduled to Monday 28th December 2009.
This means that the vast majority of our members will enjoy a four day break with their families over the Christmas Period; some even longer depending on their individual duty arrangements.
Please note that separate arrangements have been put in place in Scotland for Saturday 2nd January/Monday 4th January 2010 between the CWU Scotland/Northern Ireland Divisional Reps and Royal Mail Regional Managers

I thought being on RM`s website it`s enough for everyone to see that we`ll have 4 days off this Christmas?Janet Brum wrote:k979aaa wrote:Here https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... /a_id/5346" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's not that cut and dry. With the 26th not being the Bank Holiday RM could well have all night shift staff in a 00:00 of the 25th going into the Saturday as the Saturday isn't a Bank Holiday. Given how busy we are now and it's no where near Christmas, with the volume of work that we'll probably have around Christmas my gut feeling is that they might well have us in at midnight. We'll certainly be in at 00:00 of the Monday going into the TuesdayJanet Brum wrote:I thought being on RM`s website it`s enough for everyone to see that we`ll have 4 days off this Christmas?Janet Brum wrote:k979aaa wrote:Here https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... /a_id/5346" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
