As key workers we never stopped through the worst of the pandemic, with huge home delivery workloads, because we care about the public.

In return Royal Mail management are hammering us wiith more backbreaking workloads, bullying, threats, and cuts to our pay and hours.

We did our bit for country. Shouldn't we be cut some slack?

With the unemployment level only going one way for the next two years now is the worst time to strike, Dont like your job they will find 5 people to fill it, and by the law of averages at least one of thems got to roughly able to do it.

There was a job mentioned on the new in the last few weeks. It was a receptionists job at a restaurant and they had nearly 1,000 people apply for it

I understand your frustration and sentiments behind your statement but now is definitely not the time to strike. As previous posts have mentioned unemployment is rife and because of this the general public would offer virtually zero support. I think this is why the talks between management and CWU are taking so long. The CWU knows that the Covid situation has changed the outlook for our job. Unfortunately it seems to me like the management own all the trump cards in these talks going forward. There could be some very unpleasant news from CWU in the coming weeks.

We would need to give 2 weeks notice which would leave us a couple of weeks left of a 6 month strike mandate before we would need to reballot so no matter what you think of the wider economic and political situation it would just be a giant waste of our time and money.

This strike ballot was never going to be used in anger, even as they sent out the ballot papers in early March it was obvious we were in the middle of a serious global crisis so it was more a case of the union showing that it could still load the gun properly after the farce of the last couple of ballots rather than proving they would point and fire it.

Strikes about what, exactly? There's a new CEO who is in talks with the Union, you're striking for the sake of striking. It's accepted by all that change needs to come. We can strike about the fact somebody invented the internet if you wish, or try to mitigate the effects of declining post. If course strike action can never be ruled out, but should always be a last resort. Now would be a terrible time to strike, also.

He's saying you're a troll who talks crap, mate.

But you enjoy telling posties that we have no qualifications so should be grateful for any old job we can get, no matter how we are treated.

So you're probably bright enough to work out the meaning of, you know, words.

Well, what has really changed since the ballot? If you step back, those issues are still live. Unless the company are now engaging fully with the Union? We haven't heard much.

But yeah, I might have been a bit trigger happy with this thread. Just seems that the untenable workload, pressure and threats are escalating daily at the moment.

Next time your office does a round of recruitment there will probably be 500 people applying for 4 jobs.

Have a lot of posties got degrees or masters then, or are they like me and lucky to have a few gcse's? Id sooner work here for £10 an hour than sainsburys/lidl/etc etc for minimum wage, have a manager constanly on your back, be forced to worked overtime and get no sick pay etc etc.I know because ive done it.

Time to strike passed before the election with the ex ceo. CV19 was invented to prevent any further thoughts on strike action.

New ceo is essentially doing the same thing but getting his right hand man (cwu) to push the agenda onto us.

Even if there is a major disagreement which i doubt, i feel it'll be hard to win the public in the current climate.

Automation is coming. Striking isnt going to stop it. IMO the threat of a strike will maybe tweak a few minor things in whatever is proposed. Deal will be done. Changes will happen. Just my uneducated gut feeling.
