My "friend" Stan
Was wondering if anyone else recognizes Stan in their particular delivery office. He comes across as a decent guy at first, always interested in you and well liked by most in the office. Then you start to notice that he spends a considerable amount of time in the manager's office, so much so that the standing joke among the workforce is "What's DOM doing in Stans office ?" Then you start to notice that Stan appears to be 1st choice whenever the cushy driving overtime is required, absolutely not open to anyone just a nice little mutual agreement between the 2 parties. So you check the P552 to see if this is really happening but nothing there in writing so maybe not the case. WRONG It seems like Stan and DOM have come to a little agreement that no one else needs to know, just a little secret between ourselves! So as it transpires Stan is not really the friend he pretends to be, he is the DOM's eyes and ears on the floor and keeps him abreast of any dissension that might be brewing.A paid up CWU member as well, my disdain for Stan is immeasurable, had me fooled for many years but eventually I woke up and saw him for the duplicitous lowlife that he is.

This Stan is a big fan of the manager, it seems. That's the new internet slang these days. A "stan" is an overzealous fan of a major figure. (Usually a celebrity, but Delivery Office Managers like to think of themselves as superstars.)RICARD020191962 wrote:Was wondering if anyone else recognizes Stan in their particular delivery office... he spends a considerable amount of time in the manager's office.
The new colloquial term "stan" is a portmanteau of "stalker" and "fan," and it originated from Eminem's 2000 song "Stan" about an obsessed fan named -- wait for it... Stan.

This past week just about sums it up perfectly. DOM has decided that if he can't get a duty cover then too bad. No attempt at getting all the mail delivered by usual means of asking if anyone to work their day off, as long as the Trackeds and SDs get delivered then he's happy to fail the duty and have someone deliver 2 days mail the following day. Unless however your Stan who happily obliges when asked in on his day off. Not walking though, oh no, will do his usual late collection and some other mug will be shifted to accommodate him. So....... if you add that o/t to the 2 van runs to the workshop already this week then Stan has had a very good week. Pushing on towards 12/13 hours o/t with a grand total of about 500 steps on his Fitbit! Cushty!

Stan should become an acting manager and move unions to Unite (think that's the one that covers the managers)

Not just DOs, they are in MCs too. It seems many of the managers have their own pet informers.

Let's be honest here, the job has been full of this kind of behaviour since before The Pope left Partickbaldrick wrote:Not just DOs, they are in MCs too. It seems many of the managers have their own pet informers.
and it will never change. Managers ?? couldn't in most offices hack it without their office creep.

The office Stan goes around telling his colleagues what to do even though he is on the same level. He is often seen doing bugger all and accuses others of being lazy. Because Stan has too much time on his hands, he’s always conjuring up a plan to catch someone out to get them sacked. Stan goes around placing a letter in your frame after you’ve gone out and runs to the manager calling for wilful delay. If ever Stan gets put on a delivery, suddenly his back is playing up, or he purposely breaks the van down to get out of it. He is most likely a narcissistic sociopath.

True though we’re supposed to be adults but many school kids behave better than some of the workers in RMRen Hoëk wrote:Jesus chirst. This thread. We're grown adults ffs.

Exactly as I’ve said on another there that thread!!! Too many people too interested in what others are/aren’t doing. It’s a smokescreen I tell you, draw people’s attention onto someone to divert it away from themselves.
