Sickness Absence 14 days in 12 month period

Post by CHUCKYPIG »

The rules state that a sickness stage 1 is initiated upon "4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period"

Does the 14 days include days not down to work anyway, e.g. rota days and weekends?

E.g. first day off sick Monday, return Thursday and rota day off is Tuesday. Is that 3 days off sick (including rota day off) or 2 days?

Sick for one week e.g. Monday to Sunday. Is that 5 days off sick or 7?

Any advice useful. Cheers.

3 days and 7 days.

Rest days are only not counted if at the end of an absence and you inform them the previous day that you are fit to return.

For Example if your rest day is Wednesday and you are off sick Monday and Tuesday if you inform them on Tuesday afternoon that you are fit to return you will return on Thursday and it will count as 2 days sick.

Chuky. If you are resuming work on a Monday after been sick , if you phone in on the Saturday , they cannot count the Sunday as sick.

You can also resume duty on your rest day , which won't then be counted as sick!
