Coronavirus: Fourth person at Peterborough Royal Mail sorting office tests positive for Covid-19

A fourth person working at the Royal Mail sorting office in Peterborough has tested positive for Covid-19.

The news comes a week after the Peterborough Telegraph revealed that a number of posties had walked out from the office in Werrington despite Royal Mail insisting that a deep clean has been carried out.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “A colleague who works in one of our Peterborough sites has been diagnosed with the Covid-19 coronavirus. We wish them a speedy recovery as they remain at home under clinical advice.

"Royal Mail’s number one priority is keeping our people and our customers safe. We are doing everything we can to address any concerns our colleagues may have and have carried out a full clean of the facility.


"Royal Mail has changed its standard ways of working to ensure that colleagues stay two metres apart. We also implemented a new rule so that only one person is in a Royal Mail delivery vehicle at any one time.

"We have committed £40 million to buying equipment such as hand sanitiser, disposable gloves and other additional protective measures to keep our people safe as they keep the UK connected during the coronavirus pandemic.”

I would imagine in most offices there is one if not more that has tested positive for covid 19!
Surely more news worthy is the fact that in several offices people have actually died from this disease?
