probably 10 to 15% of their salary so a lot more than £200.

They need to stop lino and doms 10%

Should be a bonus for all the workforce every year and we all play a more important role in the office , lapsing sick leave covering duty's ,
Then there's an incentive for everyone to muck in ..

That was an advance so it will be deducted from whatever they're due in June

Indeed. Effectively, there was no bonus last year and, if reports of company profitability are correct, there will be none this year. Essentially, manager's bonuses are finished.

So if their bonus is less than £1k , will they have to pay some back ?

Theoretically, yes.
But I believe there was a promise that they wouldn't try to "claw back". So (and this is my personal prediction), I believe they'll announce a "bonus" this year of around £1000, possibly with about £200 added on, with a caveat that they'll recoup the £1000 advance.

This will give managers roughly the same bonus as posties for the coronavirus period and also acclimatise them to receiving no performance related bonus ... Ergo, the end of the managerial bonus. A massive saving for the company and, with the CMA as ineffectual as it is, something I'm amazed hasn't happened before now.
