Tributes have been paid to a “fit and healthy” Scots postie who tragically died after contracting COVID-19.

Alexander Fenty, who was known as Akie to his loved ones, fell ill at the weekend and was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Sunday.

The 45-year-old, who lived in Peterhead with his family, could not be saved and passed away a short time later.

His heartbroken partner Lisa Masson confirmed the devastating news and issued a plea for people to follow the COVID-19 government advice.

She said: “Akie 45 yr old postie, fit and healthy taken away on Sunday night by this horrible disease COVID19.

“My partner and love of 20 yrs, a dad to our amazing daughter Abby who is 15, we have lost him forever and life will never be the same again.

“Do not think this disease won’t affect you as it can/will. Follow the instructions given!

“Help NHS, stay inside, save lives.”

Her post has since been shared more than 3000 times on Facebook.

Akie, who was also known as Zaz, has been described as a “gentleman” who was “one of life’s good guys” by heartbroken friends.

One said: “Can’t stop thinking of you both! He certainly was one of life’s good guys. Sending our love.”

Another added: “Heartbreaking such a gentleman, will be a big void at Royal Mail without him there thinking of you all.”

A third said: “Your husband, dad was the happiest of posties, always a smile on his face. A few of us on our street heard the sad news and we all have a heavy heart.”

A funeral notice for the dad-of-one read: “Very suddenly, after a short illness, at Accident & Emergency, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Sunday April 5th 2020.

“Alexander Watt Fenty (Akie), Postman aged 45 years, dearly loved and cherished long term partner of Lisa Marie Masson, a much loved, loving and devoted dad to Abby and friend to so many.

“Very sadly and sorely missed. Owing to Government restrictions funeral private. No callers and no flowers please.”

Deeply sad.

Worth noting that the Scottish Sun is reporting that he had a cough since December, and that he was never tested for Covid-19.

It's ridiculous that people still aren't being tested when they are presenting symptoms.

Rest in peace Alexander Fenty, sadly these are the first wave of thousands of RM posties that will loose there life to CV due to RM profits before any regard to safety of its workers, shame on Royal Mail & the CWU.

Firstly, my condolences. It's deeply unpleasant to see any of our colleagues falling to this horrible disease.

However, I'm not going to rush in and assume this was just about the coronavirus. The guy had a cough and other difficulties for 4 months - this disease was only just spreading in China at that point. I suspect he had another issue that was unfortunately compounded by the disease.
