Drop a line to the wages branch giving them your pay number. Then send a copy of the letter to the Duke of Pork c/o Wimbledon.

What a wonderfull idea members leave the CWU just because the vote result dosent match up with the way they wanted to go!

Whats the point of being in CWU in the first place if you cant accept the democratic will of the majority of those that voted?

Well said! every union member (and non union) was expected out on strike even though they may not have voted for it, we still (quite rightly) expected them to support the majority, now it is our turn to respect the majority we may not agree with it but surely we are bigger than this! We are the union It is our job now to make the best of a bad deal. Stick together! All this talk of leaving the union is playing right into :lfo :cfo hands can't you see that is what they want. Do you really want to give them what they want???

Did that nine years ago comrade, and looking back at the record of the Labour Party, I feel entirely vindicated. Hardly anyone in our office pays into it. That started when we used to be a militant office. We're not so militant now (although we had no strike breakers apart from those belonging to the CMA) but it's become a tradition that we don't fund Labour. Anyway, if Allan Leighton is welcome in the Labour Party, they can do without our support.

I have been thinking seriously about leaving the Union today and I have deided to come up with Reasons to leave and Reasons to Stay - Anyone can join in.

Reasons to Leave

get an Extra £3 a week through not paying subs.
It will show my dissatisfaction with the leadership

Reasons to Stay

Union will be there when I as an individual need them.
If I leave I can't partake in a vote of no confidence against the leadership if one happens.
If I leave I wont be able to vote in a replacement for Dave Ward and Sir Billy.
I wont be able to have a voice in future decisions regarding both Royal Mail and CWU
If I leave will I be helping AL and AC in what is perceived as the tactic to "Divide and Conquer"

Has anyone else got anything to add to either list.

Or there again, anyone with a serious desire to influence the future direction of this union will rarely be presented with an easier opportunity.
Over the next year as the implications of this deal become practical reality the effect on the membership will be huge. Membership will decline inevitably, but anger, resentment, and apathy will all increase{ unless of course you believe this is actually a good deal and that down the line the workforce will be quietly satisfied with the end results]
Those commited to transforming the CWU into a fighting union could not have dreamt of more favourable conditions.

Every cloud as they say

But is it not better to try and fail than to do nothing at all. Image
