I think it's inevitable, unless the number of coronavirus cases can somehow be dramatically reduced. Interesting to hear Rico say that the company was in a good financial position...(at the moment).

“We are entering a period of significant uncertainty in a good financial position,” Back said. “We have a strong balance sheet. We have substantial levels of liquidity and low levels of debt. We are taking immediate steps to further reduce our costs and protect our cashflow.”
ie even though loads off sick and the DOs are choc-abloc with letters and parcels, we are not paying any overtime.

I emailed the CFO Stuart Simpson with my worries. Also asked if they could make it possible for office staff to volunteer to help out with deliveries. I’m quite happy to do so

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Surely it's already a reduced service with so many Posties being off.
Mail must be delayed all over the place.

Every day about a third of stuff in our office isn't going out, and collections have been suspended.
The service is already reduced, it "may" collapse altogether.

Essential items are the only thing we should be delivering everything else is an unnecessary risk to us and the households we deliver

Do you mean afternoon/evening collections from firms/post offices have been suspended?sindba wrote:Every day about a third of stuff in our office isn't going out, and collections have been suspended.

In my area some post offices haven't been getting an evening collection due to staff sick leave.Revolutionary1 wrote:Do you mean afternoon/evening collections from firms/post offices have been suspended?sindba wrote:Every day about a third of stuff in our office isn't going out, and collections have been suspended.

I've spent this week delivering near Xmas levels of "essential" parcels...
Seeds and young plants.... trainers.....loads of clothes.....car parts.....several large pedal bins.....some boxes of crisps.... innumerable small Chinese packets...
All whilst there is a pandemic raging around us.
I actually wouldn't mind being out and about delivering if it genuinely was essentials but delivering all these "bargains" people on lock down are buying as they are bored is just ridiculous.
Then today as putting in next weeks D2Ds.......why are we still having to deliver those for
