Does SSP make up a portion of our occupational sick pay? I’ve been off 6 months & am now going to half pay which I received a letter from my DOM about. Then I received a letter from Royal Mail pay services stating that I will no longer receive SSP because I had been claiming it for 28 weeks. The only payment I received was my 35 hour flat rate from Royal Mail.
I accidentally filled in the social security benefit section on my Sickline before as I didn’t know how to fill one in. Having never been off long term before. But I’ve never received any SSP payments in my payslips or any other form. I tried HR with this but they were no help. Has anyone came across this before?

Occupational sick pay & SSP
This is weird, can anyone else help.
As far as I'm aware you automatically get ssp after you run out of sick, have never heard (not to say it doesn't happen tho) of some of your RM sick pay being SSP.
Surely HR would know?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

SSP is part of your contractual sick pay. RM just makes up the difference.
It's only payable for 28 weeks.

• Full rate sick pay = the difference between
your normal rate of pay (including any relevant
allowances), and the rate at which you’re
entitled to claim social security benefits.
• Half rate sick pay = half of your normal rate
of pay (including any relevant allowances), or a
lower amount, that when added to any social
security benefits will equal your full rate of
pay.
• Statutory sick pay = the benefits provided
under social security legislation as long as you
comply with the legal requirement
