It's an old joke in my DO that we sort (diversion) faster than the MC staff and I've seen them in news reports sorting and to be honest the slowest sorters in my office sort twice as fast as they do. MC staff better get used to covering DO work ie getting wet, being cold, bitten by dogs, constant abuse by people oh what fun we will have

Re: mail centers done em selves up
You will find that alot of the senior posties within the MC voted No and it is the new comers within the MC (e.g. posties that have worked for RM less than 7 years) voted Yes along with the LAs and engieers. There are alot of part timers who would have also voted yes because they have nothing to lose. Whereas, the full timers would have voted No. The part timers would have looked at the money, whilst the full timers would have looked at the terms and conditions of the agreement. This is what happens when businesses bring in part time workers rather than full timers.wakkono wrote:rumour is the mail centers swayed the yes vote ......

I think you will find that delivery staff are by far the highest % of eligible voters, so i dont think mc staff swayed, i work in an mc and i voted no, but it is true that people in mcs think it doesnt concern them, well there in for a big shock cos they will be doing walks of that im sure, i tried telling people about this and they just laughed, at least il have the chance to say i told you so and i will take my chance whilst pissing myself laughing, poor c**tsdisgruntledpostie1 wrote:It's an old joke in my DO that we sort (diversion) faster than the MC staff and I've seen them in news reports sorting and to be honest the slowest sorters in my office sort twice as fast as they do. Its not a nice atomosphere for full-time staff to be working in if they have to watch there every move!mailsort6 wrote:No doubt now that RM have got what they wanted us full timers better watch our backs.wakkono wrote:lol just gonna say u still got loads of full timers where u are?? lucky u
all our full timers who leave (or just recently sacked !) are all being replaced by 1 hour contracts

To be honest if I'm sacked/suspended I think the best course of action for me is to smack the DUM with a chairmadelin4 wrote:Its not a nice atomosphere for full-time staff to be working in if they have to watch there every move!mailsort6 wrote:No doubt now that RM have got what they wanted us full timers better watch our backs.wakkono wrote:lol just gonna say u still got loads of full timers where u are?? lucky u

Whatever the voting pattern MC's are probably in for a big shock. If the commercialisation of this industry follows the pattern established in others then the business will be destructured. obvious prime targets are MC's and network delivery, clearly defined roles, less labour intensive than delivery and in the case of MC's ripe for the introduction of labour saving tech improvements. With cost apportionment done on a whim these two sectorsweetrogg wrote:I think you will find that delivery staff are by far the highest % of eligible voters, so i dont think mc staff swayed, i work in an mc and i voted no, but it is true that people in mcs think it doesnt concern them, well there in for a big shock cos they will be doing walks of that im sure, i tried telling people about this and they just laughed, at least il have the chance to say i told you so and i will take my chance whilst pissing myself laughing, poor c**tsdisgruntledpostie1 wrote:It's an old joke in my DO that we sort (diversion) faster than the MC staff and I've seen them in news reports sorting and to be honest the slowest sorters in my office sort twice as fast as they do. could prove very profitable especially as delivery costs are driven down. Brace yourselves for sell offs/competetive tendering, if I was out to make a fast buck I'd have the plans drawn up already.
DO's and MC's strike to support network? Can't see it. Network strike alone, just hire contractors.
DO's strike to support MC's? You know how it goes
