Sorry We Missed You: The New Ken Loach Film

Post by Dorset Plodder »

It was suggested I watch this my our Unit Rep.

Any Posties that aren't quite sure how our Competitors run their Businesses should watch this. If Rico wants to drive down our T&Cs and match these Companies (so that he, and the rest our Shareholders, can make a bigger profit) I hope to God & The CWU that he fails! :pray

Hopefully we'll get a Big YES Vote next week, and send the right message. :cuppa

Just watched the trailer on YouTube and it looks really good, unfortunately its story will be so close to home for so many struggling families, let's hope none of us have to be in this poor guys situation, dont think Ricos heart strings will be tugged on watching it though, he dont seem to give a flying f##K.

A few reviews did say how it was a bit too close to home to watch, and they'd prefer something a bit more uplifting to amuse them. Ken Loach hoped that it might cause some discussions, and perhaps raise awarenes in certain quarters, as was the case with I, Daniel Blake. :cuppa

I've watched half hour of it ( been jobbed off haha) and it certainly is sad to see the struggles of this family and how tough life can be on 0 hours contracts and the other partner on a low wage both working all hours and still struggling, sad to see. Dont think the rest of the film will cheer me up much, cant see a happy ending coming.

Perhaps it should have a "Mental Health " Warning ? It's not a Hollywood Blockbuster so I doubt they'll win the Lottery and sail off into the sunset ... Yet how how many of us do? Probably a good idea to be in a Postive Mood when you watch it. :cuppa

I watched it earlier after seeing this thread. Very depressing. No hollywood ending **spoiler alert** After the whole scam of this "self employed" gig has already put him and his family onto a path of exhaustion, debt and family disfunction he gets beaten up while having a p#ss in a bottle because he doesnt have time for a toilet break, his boss then fines him for not completing his shift, charges him £1000 for his broken PDA and sanctions him. The final scene is him, in no fit state to walk let alone work, gingerly getting into his van (which he has to supply himself) in an attempt to drive to work because his family are in so much debt. His family try and stop him but he drives away a completely broken man (in more ways than one!).

Glad I watched it before reading this.

Does Ken Loach still think anybody that questions the Labour leadership about anti semitism should be thrown out of the party? Is that holocaust denial is something to be discussed?
