Parcel Hubs - Inverness area
Hi I'm possibly moving between Inverness and Elgin area in the summer and wondered which offices currently deliver LATs and have been earmarked as Parcel Hubs in this new strategy? Thanks

From what I understand, there will not be any of these new parcel hubs in Scotland, seems a bit silly. I believe they are located maybe located in Warrington? South west? and London? I could be wrong, but I'm sure someone will correct me.sicknote25 wrote:Hi I'm possibly moving between Inverness and Elgin area in the summer and wondered which offices had been earmarked as parcel hubs in this new strategy?

I'm currently in the South West and I believe there will be one main hub and this will then send the parcels out to offices that will act as smaller hubs covering a couple of areas.Pharox wrote:From what I understand, there will not be any of these new parcel hubs in Scotland, seems a bit silly. There is no chance of one these parcel super hubs in the north of Scotland.
Or anywhere in Scotland by the looks of it.
Actually i have a daft question regarding these super duper hubs !
How do/will they work?
If i post a large tracked/standard packet from say Inverness to Aberdeen for example - does that packet go to one of these hubs - get sorted - then go back up to Aberdeen. ?

We have been told that in our area the parcels are taken straight to the hub and the segregated into postcode areas, they will then go onto a smaller office (an LAT unit) who will deliver over a certain area. The small delivery offices in that area would be the ones that could loose numbers as their walks would be adjusted to compensate for poss of parcels leaving surplus staff.dandydon wrote:There is no chance of one these parcel super hubs in the north of Scotland.

Inverness has a mailcentre/delivery office that covers the majority of the North of Scotland (12 permanent residents and 50,000 holiday cottages) , it's new and shiny, cost nearly £10 million and there's about 250 staff there, most of them related to each other.

Not even this business is that stupid.
Some areas of the country will be exempt from the joys of the super-duper hubs.

so has the union agreed on these parcel hubs, what about the 4 pillars, I think all this will have to be agreed with the union first on our terms and conditions

There will be plenty of space in that new mail centre as Amazon have recently opened a hub nearby and this has led to a drastic cut in traffic through it.Woody Guthrie wrote:Inverness has a mailcentre/delivery office that covers the majority of the North of Scotland (12 permanent residents and 50,000 holiday cottages) , it's new and shiny, cost nearly £10 million and there's about 250 staff there, most of them related to each other.

Nope it'll go through the superhub. We at MCs will have nothing to do with the Tracked that would go through the superhubsWoody Guthrie wrote:It will go from Inverness to Aberdeen. If i post a large tracked/standard packet from say Inverness to Aberdeen for example - does that packet go to one of these hubs - get sorted - then go back up to Aberdeen. ?

In the rare and unlikely event that someone in Inverness has a tracked account and sends it locally it will be dispatched directly to the recipient, trust me I know these things. Also you'll still be getting tracked at your MC under a 'shoe box' size. That's coming straight from the guy running the North West 'super-hub'.
You've failed to take this on board a dozen times SP despite the fact that anything else would be ludicrous for a business trying to make a profit.

We'll still be getting Tracked through that's over shoe box size. The yorks of large Tracked will 9 times out of 10 have small mixed in and vice versa for the sleeves of small. They're hardly going to save any hours in MCs.Woody Guthrie wrote:No it won't.SpacePhoenix wrote:Nope it'll go through the superhub. I doubt that outward MCs are going to look at the recipient's address for any item over shoebox size, in any case there won't be setups for large items so it'll either go in a sleeve to the local DO or to the hub

When we had our visit from senior manager this week I asked this question and also as we are a rural office (in Scotland), how can it be profitable that we all drive say 1000 miles between us and a parcel driver does the same again.
He said they know it won't be efficient but they will make it up for it in the towns and cities.
VOTE YES !!!!
