Marking item undelivered on the PDA

Post by magicfinger »

This has happened a number of times to me of late, I am just wondering if what I am doing is right?

I scan an item into the PDA at the door, there is no answer so I fill and leave a 739 and mark the item as undelivered. I walk away and the door then opened.

Is it ok to just re-scan the item and hand it over (or have it singed for if required) or should I be doing something else on the PDA before I re-scan?

Many thanks

Yes, that`s fine as long as you scan it again and mark it as delivered.

It can happen the other way, many times I thought the parcel will go through the letter box and it was a big too large and it didn`t, of course sometimes I scanned it as delivered before trying, then marked it as undelivered

Confusing when someone checks the tracking but luckily most of them were small chinese ones so not much harm...

It happened with a SD this week, It made me think a bit more about the fact that it was both marked as undelivered and delivered which could be confusing. I guess it's only flagged if the sender or receiver reports an issue. Thanks again

Do you not go to Indoors then enquiry office and then scan ready for delivery then back to outdoors then scan as delivered? Or is that too time consuming?

Takes too much time indeed :(

Plus it will still show confusing scans, what`s the point?

Yes it would look confusing when checked but the final scan is what matters.

Why? Doesn't achieve anything AFAIK. The initial 'Ready for Delivery' scan sends a text (if they're set up to receive text notifications) saying 'item
will be delivered today at approx......'. If you've just walked away from the door and recipient opens door why would they want another text saying it's going
to be delivered today when you're stood there with the parcel in your hands?

Just get the 739 off the customer as well. Not saying recipients are trying to pull a fast one, but the number of times we've had partners/family members
who've picked up a 739 that was left on the hall table come down to the office when the item was received in such circumstances, even
though initial recipient promised 'to rip it up/chuck it away'.

I think if you scan a SD as no answer then rescan it and get it signed for a while after it will still show up on the track and trace system as no answer as the 1st scan 'stops the clock'.
When this has happened to me before (item scanned as no answer then customer opens the door after the 739 has been left) I go into indoor, enquiry office, customer collected on the pda and scan it again and get it signed.Never been pulled up about it yet anyway.

That works if it`s after 1 pm, if it`s earlier, just scan it again as delivered, no need to go to the indoor bit.

I'm not sure you're right Janet,if both scans are before 1pm i think the 1st scan of no answer would still stand,it wouldn't change to delivered,i could be wrong though.

It would change to delivered if it`s scanned afetr a no answer one, the tracking will show all the scans.
If it`s before 1 pm all good, it won`t flag up, if it`s after 1 pm it`s a problem.

When you are indoors - use the indoor menu.
When you are outdoors - use the outdoor menu.
There is no need to flip between the two when you are outside. Just scan the items correctly and everything will be fine on the Track and Trace.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What about if you scan a special as no answer before 1pm and the see the customer after 1pm as you are passing their house again and deliver it then?
This means you have delivered the item after 1pm yes or no?

No, first delivery attempt was before 1pm.
