Re-pick.......floaters and reserves

Post by smartecosse »

The repick has been trundling down the seniority list at the speed of a snail.

It's almost down to the last six or seven positions....all of which are floaters or reserves.

None of these have been taken by any of the full timers.

So I have two questions....pro and cons of each position and how on earth can they expect part timers to cover rural duties?

I'm under the impression that if you sign for a full time duty as a part timer you should be made up to full time. I'm not sure though, as i'm a part time reserve myself.

So for rurals none of which are ever back before the part timers are meant to finish how would the reserves and the floaters work?

Surely there should be at least one full time reserve and floater?

There's no such thing as a part-time duty all outdoor work is the same length only indoor needs covered.we have part time rural drivers there runs are prepped for them starting at 9am.

Why not? I'm on 30 hrs a week and do a rural. It gets prepped just like all the other part times duties.

Can’t think of anything worse than someone prepping a rural for you, if there’s any job that’s not going to be best done as the frame it’s a rural, maybe it’s my ocd :Very Happy
