Colleagues, how much service is required before a newbie can apply for a vacant duty? Thanks in anticipation

Anyone can apply but it will be the one with the most service who gets it.

Correct, but at my MPU the person who has the most service in that branch has the highest priority.

I work with posties who have been at RM for years around different offices who are down the bottom of the pecking order because they've only been at my office for a small amount of time. Which is a bit rubbish.

That being said, I've been at my MPU for 6 months and I'm 200th out of 207 in the priority list. Applied anyway. You never know.

That's wrong seniority used to be like that but it's now based on your overall service no matter how many offices you've worked in.

Do colleagues in the local office/local budgetary area have precedence for jobs in that same local office/budgetary area
over colleagues outside that area who have greater seniority?

Yes because their seniority won't apply until they transfer into your office,You can't just pick a job in another area.Seniority is office based and when someone transfers they just slot into the list based on their starting date wherever they started.

The agreement states something like only employees in the resourcing area can apply so if you work in an office that’s part of a cluster but managed and resourced by one manager anyone in those offices can apply.

Geordie - appreciate your comment, when you say 'resourcing area' that's what I meant by 'budgetary area' in my OP - just couldn't think of the proper terminology.... :thumbup
