FT to PT and back again?

Post by GRS »

Someone in our office went from FT to PT about a year ago. Now a FT vacancy has come up in the office due to another FT reducing their hours. Can the person who went PT now go back up to FT if he wants it?

They can apply for the job same as anyone else.
If they're senior enough they get it.

i know of 1 a few years ago got paid a few grand to drop 39 to 30, year or 2 later they were offering a few FT jobs and went back up,
probably a timescale if bought down, but if just dropped for free they should be ok to return to FT whenever a job becomes available and have the seniority

edit, technically they must remain on a duty for a full year, but it's not what you know within royal mail and rules are definitely bent

Whilst that is indeed the standard rule, it doesn't apply if you are increasing your hours or moving upwards in any way.
E.G. light van driver can take a vacant duty and then move to MGV driving instantly if such a vacancy occurs.
