The majority of colleagues you work with will without doubt ultimately destroy this job.

Do you include yourself in this sweeping statement?

That's a fairly profound statement ... would you care to supply some evidence in support of this ? A derogatory opening post such as this will win you no favours on here. Have you the service and knowledge to even offer such a suggestion ?

Another justified comment knocked down again.

People on here have to get in the real world and take their head out of their own backsides.

No-one does the job correctly on delivery and they all cut corners to make time.

Its no wonder the company is going the way it is if people on here live in a dream world

I think it depends which side of the fence you sit on. People on here say that "runners" are killing the job and giving royal mail scope to cut jobs. But if everyone "did the job properly" it would cost royal mail more money to get the job done! So which lot are you blaming for the way the company is going?

I have oddly enough just started to 'do the job properly' as in start on time, have meal relief etc. I have to book extended delivery most days believe it or not because of absorption/lapsing which takes me approx 30 minutes including travelling to and from it.
So i'm not starting early which falsifies my time leaving the office to go on delivery,One day a couple of weeks ago i booked an hour extended only for the dom to cross it off the next morning. The last time this happened i threatened to put in a grievance against him and it got paid in the end. This time however I just thought fine,if you don't want to pay extended i'll just leave the absorption instead which is great as I don't have time to do it anyway!
Since then i have started to take it again and book extended which has been getting paid (i'm checking daily to make sure).
I will continue to 'do the job properly' from now on and any grief from any managers i'll say 'check the pda data, come out on delivery with me' etc etc do what they like!

Thirty two years service within many functions of the job. It is now fast becoming unbearable to see colleagues with similar service and more self destructing! Coming in early, cutting corners, rushing about and not even making time. Working illegally by falsifying tachograph records and not completing daily vehicle checks. The minority which I am part of are fast becoming the villains in managements eyes.

Swipe cards will not stop these lunatics! Why can’t they adapt and see what is happening? Some Agency drivers certainly don’t help the situation either.

I maintain my opening line, some people will kill this job!

I can understand new starters or junior men for not knowing any better but in my office we are talking a fair proportion all being senior men.

Did you get it agreed beforehand?

Again, this has to be agreed before you go out on delivery at the earliest possible opportunity.

Rather sweeping statement. The bloke that invented the internet probably played the biggest role in ruining the job in fairness. Yes people rush which is stupid given the current climate, but there's also a large number in my office that 'ruin the job' by dragging their feet. Management know they do this but it's a game of cat and mouse to try and catch them.
