PDA Actuals and revision
We are having a revision due to our area having had about 1000 houses built over the last two years and they are changing all the walks to add about 80 extra calls per pairing. Even though they have PDA Actuals to look at they have just put the same amount on each walk even though most are unachieveable now apart from the zero contract people carving it up with no break and running round. Also the 2 fulltime pairings on the big walks are going to be Fulltime /Part time pairings. I can see trouble ahead

Our area rep told us that when they look at the PDA actuals they just end up with an average finish time for the whole office and that's what they base saving/lapsing opportunities on. So I'm guessing they've looked at data and decided on average each round can have 80 more calls.

Won't the extra calls just get added anyway if RM succeed in bring in their parcel strategy?

So there you go, all the technology/information they have and as I've said all along the only thing they look at is finishing times, surely they can look more closely at the PDA actuals and see what speed postie's are walking, cross reference that to their age maybe even length of service as a history of walking long distances every day must have a detrimental effect, no it's not correct to just apply the same percentage of extra work across the board with no thought/planning involved that's just the lazy RM management way.

Probably illegal to do it based on age, don't know if it would also be illegal based on health so based on length of service is the most likelyted_e_bear wrote:So there you go, all the technology/information they have and as I've said all along the only thing they look at is finishing times, surely they can look more closely at the PDA actuals and see what speed postie's are walking, cross reference that to their age maybe even length of service as a history of walking long distances every day must have a detrimental effect, no it's not correct to just apply the same percentage of extra work across the board with no thought/planning involved that's just the lazy RM management way.

You're right, but RM are lazy and so will use masses of data to work out an average. They won't waste time employing someone to check through loadsted_e_bear wrote:So there you go, all the technology/information they have and as I've said all along the only thing they look at is finishing times, surely they can look more closely at the PDA actuals and see what speed postie's are walking, cross reference that to their age maybe even length of service as a history of walking long distances every day must have a detrimental effect, no it's not correct to just apply the same percentage of extra work across the board with no thought/planning involved that's just the lazy RM management way.
of sheets of paper to see who did/didn't take their full break, came in early unpaid etc. Pure data, that's what they're interested in and will use against us.

More to the point its the rm saving money way, why employ expensive human planhers when you can just have a computer analyze the data and tell you how many duties can be absorbed in an office? Share it out amongst whats left and thats the revision done. Probably be a shambles with cut offs galore afterwards but think of the time and money saved and then hope the staff will make it workted_e_bear wrote:So there you go, all the technology/information they have and as I've said all along the only thing they look at is finishing times, surely they can look more closely at the PDA actuals and see what speed postie's are walking, cross reference that to their age maybe even length of service as a history of walking long distances every day must have a detrimental effect, no it's not correct to just apply the same percentage of extra work across the board with no thought/planning involved that's just the lazy RM management way.

They will only look and use the figures from the PDA actuals that supports what they want to achieve.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, all they're interested in is a blanket how many hours did the whole office lose by postie's finishing a bit early on days when it was quiet, I'm getting on a bit now, my feet hurt,my knees hurt I'm a bit overweight and I'm certainly not as speedy as I used to be but I'm not ready for the scrapheap yet, just give me a reasonable workload and stop being obsessed with wringing the last drop of blood out of us !max49 wrote:They will only look and use the figures from the PDA actuals that supports what they want to achieve.
