Resign

Our manager has informed us that we will be having a resign soon as we haven’t had one since our changes 6 years ago. I have enquired about a couple of walks but he says they’re part time walks despite the fact that they are bigger prep than most full Tom walks! Also they take longer to do than the so called full time walks!he says I can’t sign for those walks, but I believe he is just looking after the guys already on them! I also enquired about another walk which is being Done by a full timer but he says to me I’d rather I didn’t sign for that one as the guy who has been on it for 5 years will kick off despite the fact I am more senior! He has basically given me a choice of 2 walks! Can I demand that we have walks timed to prove they are so called part time? And can I insist that I sign for this full time walk which the guy who apparently will kick off on? Union guy hasn’t been much help but is in next week to sort it out I’m just trying to find out what the official line is when it comes to a resign, Thanks

Get onto area rep, they HATE repicks and resigns, and tell,them what's going on. Tell them how useless the office rep is too.

Ok thanks I will do, problem is are rep is retiring soon and are rep is in next week to sort out but it seems manageable wants it on his terms only!

so you say you are blocked from picking 1 by dom and the other due to someone will get upset, then what? a reserve?
i think they can ring fence certain duties, but i wouldn't hesitate to pick a duty available even if one will throw their teddy out of cot.
i lost my nice area duty a few years ago due to seniority, and now walking amongst drug dealers, burglars and with dog muck every other step! that's life
too many are set in their ways and hate change, be it better or worse
i wonder how many would sooner pick a longer duty in a town they know then complains every week rather than a shorter one where they've never been in and just too afraid to learn it

Those whose duty hasn't change by more than 33% (think that's the threshold) can take their duties out of the pot

Yes that’s the problem people don’t want to change because they never have! Whilst a few of us change all the time! Think I will push this all the way with rep as I’m fed up with moving every couple of weeks or so yet others never move at all, I don’t know the official line in regards pick but rep has said are office is the only local one without a proper resign

I'd check the correct percentage to have a Walk "Taken Out" of the Resign. I nearly lost a Duty because someelse fancied it, and was Senior, when there hadn't been that much change to my Duty. IMO it shouldn't have neen included in the first place.

The Re-Pick should be done by Seniority, whether you like it or not, that's the Agreement. Some Duties may well be "Ring Fenced" for certain reasons i.e Medical Conditions, or Child Care issues, however I feel this is open to abuse by some people and is basically left to the DOM's judgement (hence the abuse).

Duties are normally put into Full-Time & Part Time List. Obviously then the FTers pick from theirs and so do the PTers. That's why a FTer isn't allowed to pick a PT duty, and visa-versa. Again this has been abused in the pass, with a bit of Favouritism thrown in. It is possible to have a bit of wiggle room for the DOM to change a PT Duty to a FT Duty if one of "The Chosen Few" decide they'd quite like it. It's happened in my Office and IMO it's totally out of order, but the Unit Rep let it go.

The Area Delivery Rep is usually a lot more successful in helping out on the Resign. Good Luck

end of the day certain duties will be ring fenced, just pick the best duty available you fancy, sod upsetting anyone

It's different for "specialist" jobs. In a DO i'm guessing that just the callers and the SD locker will be the only duties classed as "specialist"

Yes agreed but managers make there own rules and get away with it, there doesn’t seem to be anything set procedures
