we should be given Sat 26th as a non service day if previous years are to go by, however if your day off falls on this day you DO NOT gain a day back in Lieu sadly.
everyone will get the day off and get paid for it, so you can't claim twice for it. Bank Holidays ie: Monday 28th of December, you can claim your day in lieu for this as it is callassed as a Bank Holiday.

Back in 2015, when this also happened, both Boxing Day and the Monday were non-service days.
The Ofcom decision - all the way on the top of page 17 - seems to indicate it holds for the future as well - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/ ... cember.pdf

It will be up to RM to apply for an exemption to the USO.
There's no guarantee they will.

Highly unlikely that we would not get the Friday through to Monday inclusive off work no matter what classification each day receives. RM are currently throwing all their toys out of the pram but they can only go so far in this respect unless they actively want to destroy the RM.

Assuming Ofcoms decision on the USO review this year does not alter the current situation the following applies from the 1st October 2015;Woody Guthrie wrote:It will be up to RM to apply for an exemption to the USO.

An exception to Royal Mail’s universal service obligation
Section 5 Ofcom’s decision
5.3 Following our analysis of responses and consideration of concerns raised, we have decided to agree to Royal Mail’s request and have issued a direction under DUSP Condition 1.3.2(a) for 26 December to be permanently designated as an exception to the universal service when it falls on a Saturday (see Annex 1).
EDIT; just noticed BRITWRIT had already posted link

Well I for one will not be surprised if Dr No and his henchmen decide to spoil Christmas for over 100,000 people. It’s kind of their thing.
