if you put on low battery mode the pda will only do basic actions. not much different to phone on low battery mode ,

No but they're going to want to know why it was removed, plus they'll know where and when it was removed & where and when it was out back in.

Risky move imo and there's no reason why you need to do this.

Well "maybe" my battery just failed. No way to prove this could not happen. Also PDA's often crash/freeze up , and battery removal is the only way to re-boot.

Just sayin

They probably have an on-board error logger

If your just rebooting the PDA that's ok , but if it's switched off for any length of time your Dom will want to know why. Your obviously hiding something !

well maybe my battery failed and couldn't reboot . Again - no way to prove that wasnn't the case.

There's probably still enough residual power to be able to write to an error log. They can probably also access the battery state as well

But if it happens everyday at a similar time, their noses might start twitching :whistle :whistle

The mind boggles at what dodgy practices 'your friend' may be getting up to if he feels the need to ask a question like this. What next? Hacking the PDA?

Good idea! You can use the extra to make a foil hat to stop the new 5g penetrating your skull.

Mine has no signal all day then uploads when I get back to the yard. Not even sure what that all means, how does it know where I have scanned?

GPS doesn't need a mobile signal. The office has WiFi so it uploads on that when you get back in range of it.
