Are we allowed to deliver recorded and tracked letters (no specials of course) to neighbours in the same way we do parcels? Wasn’t sure if they both come under the same thing? Cheers.

And some foreign "specials".
It tells you on the PDA whether you can deliver to neighbour or not.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

NO !!! The person the letter is for May have a time frame to respond (eg before legal action is taken against them) .Neighbour signs for it and recipient is in Spain for a month. Sender sees letter is signed for but recipient not responded .

You do your thing Il do mine. I’ve seen what happens when a neighbour signs for a personal letter.Incidently I’ve not heard of a disciplinary hearing in my office where a postman has been had up for docketing a sign for letter. Also the sender wants to see the recipients signature not the random bloke two doors down. Also the neighbor is likely to sign for it and the. Put it through the letter box straight after.

It’s a strange system we have, yes your allowed to do it but I don’t like asking neighbours to sign for stuff. I won’t do it for a letter but maybe would if it’s a parcel and I know the neighbour. I have worked with people who will knock and get the neighbour to sign for a letter then go back to the original house and post it, that could go wrong in several ways imo.

100% agree. If I was to get a court letter and my neighbour signed for it I would be raging. The PDA might say it's okay but who is to say whether the customer or recipient is okay with it. As someone above said - it's not worth the risk.

Agree with others here. Wouldn't deliver a recorded letter to a neighbour. The recipient may not want to sign for it. You could argue that they may not want to sign for a parcel either, but less repurcussions if someone else does I would think.

Also agree - another scenario which an experienced postie told me which was a reason for not DTN was what if
there's a dispute between neighours, solicitor for neighbour A sends a signed for which you then take to neighbour B
who neighbour A is having the dispute with and then 'something happens' to that letter.......

Rate, so I take a signed for to the neighbour they sign for it. The addressee isn't happy or whatever happens for there to be a complaint. What can happen to you as a postie? You've followed protocol.
This is a genuine question

as per pda, if option to go to neighbour is on, and you select it and input their name and house number then they'll be no comebacks
unless either once had a "do not deliver to neighbour" sticker years a go but now gone, even then it's hard to show anything wrong,
even then if the addressee complains then customer services reply should be an opt out note is sent to the duty and put with the redirects,
but nothing will be said about wrong procedures to the postie
