2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
Was just reading that the 2D barcodes on the redirection labels are supposed to enable mech sorting of redirected letters
No chance! iLSMs and IMPs may handle them OK but CSS machines don't read them. They sort them to the originally coded address

2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
Yes I read that reply from RM on the letters page in the Courier. We tested out zapping them with the PDAs for a while but I have stopped doing it now. They zap and seem to register and get sent like other barcodes but they don't register on the 2D barcode count which they do resemble.
It sounds like there was a film shown on RMTV at some point on the subject of the barcodes on redirection stickers. The trouble is there seems to be an endless flow on films on there so I bet most of us watch very few of them. Not to mention the cringeworthy nature of most of the films with wanabee (Actual posties???) non celebrities fronting them.

2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
If our CSS machines were to go, the best the local DOs could hope for would be walk sort but more likely just all as manualHitcher wrote:There won't be any CSS machines left soon anyway!SpacePhoenix wrote:No chance! iLSMs and IMPs may handle them OK but CSS machines don't read them.

Re: 2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
Are we supposed to scan the code on the redirection sticker before posting? The amount

Re: 2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
We were told to scan redirection 2Ds on the doorstep. Although I haven't done so for almost a year now because no-one's moved onto my walk due to events.
The machine stops.

Re: 2D Barcodes On Redirection Labels
There was an article about this some months ago in Courier, the answer was that you do NOT need to scan the 2D barcode on redirection labels. As said previously, if you put a redirection label over the old address it can end up back at the original delivery office as the machine reads the orange barcode printed when the letter was first put in the system. I cross out both orange barcodes when I have a redirection letter and find I never get them back.
