Now that the post office staff have won the battle over horizon IT should royal mail be taken to court over the piss poor introduction of pegasus causing walks to fail, bullying from manager over incorrect work load , parcels above and beyond the correct call rate, unnecessary fatigue, staff losses etc etc

Yes. No two rounds are alike, a disgraceful management cock up.Lillypops wrote:Now that the post office staff have won the battle over horizon IT should royal mail be taken to court over the piss poor introduction of pegasus causing walks to fail, bullying from manager over incorrect work load , parcels above and beyond the correct call rate, unnecessary fatigue, staff losses etc etc

Is it that much of an issue to make rounds more even?
Yes, ok, you need to change a lot of the numbering/naming on frames, but at what cost, a few quid.
Yes, ok, you upset the Posties who get more loops added to their rounds, or a flat road swopped for a steep road etc.
I am not sure if there are any rules on management being able to change/add to rounds, I assume they are free to change them as they see fit.
At the end of the day, once sorted, the rounds should be pretty even and fair and you won't have the daily arguments with those whose rounds are ridiculously harder/longer than others.

They're two completely different things. The Horizon debacle led to people being made bankrupt and in some cases imprisoned for theft. Some in their seventies had to sell their houses to pay off the debt RM said they owed. And then it turned out that they were right all along and Horizon was racked with flaws so much so that the Judge said he would like to speak again to the Tech company who built the thing regarding their testimony at the trials of these people.Lillypops wrote:Now that the post office staff have won the battle over horizon IT should royal mail be taken to court over the piss poor introduction of pegasus causing walks to fail, bullying from manager over incorrect work load , parcels above and beyond the correct call rate, unnecessary fatigue, staff losses etc etc
Pegasus (if it still exists) is an internal program that sets workloads. If it's wrong, take it up with the manager and if that doesn't work, just don't go over your time.

the compensation for these poor souls should be in the high hundreds of thousands and into million plus. as you say, apart from losing their jobs and livelyhoods, they also lost their homes, there was marriage and family break-ups, and even some ending up in jail. I believe there was even a case of suicide. all because they said their jumped-up Horizon system was flawless, so it MUST be down to thieving postmasters. heads should roll for this scandal. absolute disgrace.97gaz wrote:They're two completely different things. I read somewhere that it would be in the region of £50-75K each. Also can't believe that higher ups in the Post Office didn't suspect that there was something wrong with Horizon when there was a enormous spike in accounting errors. One of our postmistress went down for two years.daveyeff wrote: the compensation for these poor souls should be in the high hundreds of thousands and into million plus. as you say, apart from losing their jobs and livelyhoods, they also lost their homes, there was marriage and family break-ups, and even some ending up in jail. Pegasus is the least of our worries as said the PDA actuals are of most concern in both cases it is the individuals and those around them that bear the cost of Dan Dare attitude of office freaks who will in time repent their actions in the goodness of time!
