When i have attended a stage warning for sick and it is long after the event, i get the warning backdated if issued and any sick included which has occured during the spell of waiting for a incompetent manager to do his job.

"All absences up to and including the date of the interview will be included in that stage of the Procedure"/i]
That is what the Attendance Procedure states. That means that if a DOM is 3 months late in getting an employee into an interview then an employee on a first stage warning could have had, say 4 absences in the past 15 months but he can only be placed on a second stage warning. That means the delay works in an employees favour.

Trust me, I know the Attendance {Procedure inside out, even though i left RM nearly 3 years ago.

Now, help me out please; I am now a self-employed accident investigator and deal with a lot of dodgy insurance claims. I use recorded delivery a lot but how come sometimes the 'track and trace'web site just says an item hasn't beeen delivered, even 2 weeks after its been posted and doesn't state that a 739 has been left? Drives me nuts.

quite simple it is just posted through the door most likely the number has been ripped off by the opg so no record of number is known,this happens because a lot of opgs cant be bothered with getting a signature by rapping door as this takes time,time unfortunately is one thing opgs have very little of because of the pressures put on them to complete their duty within the allotted time or even just to get finished. hope this clears up your problem,i personally would not pay for recorded but would use special delivery more exspensive but more likely to get there.

This sound's to me thing that happend at H.M.R.C the government department that cocked up with the child benefit record's and look who paid the price yes the junior member of staff for the top guy will get another job in the government or elsewhere probably royalmail by the looks of thing's for he like's cutting thing's.

Only this week I had a letter that had a recorded return address label but no sign of the recorded label itself (no I did not rip it off) went to line manager and did not seem to bothered - (I noted as such in the Union diary) so if managers are like that then there is no surprise that Posties when under pressure wont or cant do the job properly.

Having issues in my office just now, with folk who have returned to work after a bombay fast, i mean -being ill.
The halfwits who run the show, are sometimes not giving a return to work interview, sometimes for 3 months after the postie has been back.

Ten, when a stage warning is given, the poor posties have to watch any absences for 15 months, instead of 12, because it only starts after the dum has spoken to the postie and had his return to work interview.

Question, is there any official time span that a gaffer has to give a return to work interview, say 48 hours.

I think its a bit poor having guys on a 15 month stage warning instead of a year.

After looking around on this site and asking my rep, you are stuffed, as like many "union agreements" they allow a bit of "discretion" and MANAGEMENT will always push it to the max in doing us, and our UNION will always do the min to protect ONE member. You can blame OUR union LEADERS for this because whilst on paper it seems good and fair, in practice the employer will ALWAYS rape your ass. Dont believe me? stage 1 sickness no appeal, whats that about? What fool came up with that! you have already wasted 1/3 of the precedure with NO defence but the fair way your Lino looks at you and the way you behave (suck up.) and whilst i dont know i think stage 2 is the same but i bloody hope i am wrong? It is also my understandind that the employer RM can fail to adhere to any part or stage of the procedure at any time against you and this is not cause for a dropping of the case as is the case with USDAW a well known right wing union, if MANAGEMENT DONT FOLLOW PROCEDURES AT ALL TIMES IT IS THROWN OUT AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A GOOD REP! But the CWU allow management to carry on despite this.
So the best of luck in your case as until we have a good set of negotiators at the CWU leadership our terms and conditions to be continued to be eroded.

You're not wrong, there is no appeal against a stage 2 either. I was told that the union had agreed the attendance procedures and as such there was no right of appeal.
Excellent negotiation on the unions' side, at least we know that the leadership couldn't negotiate their way round a round-a-bout.

Seems to me this lot couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery, the crap deals they keep comming up with show that they dont live in the real world and the RM negotiators must finish these negotiations shake hands with our lot say well guys you played hard ball with us again and OUR brass believe them then RM go down the pub to celebrate another shafting of the workforce.
