Do any offices make an effort at Xmas to cheer the place up? Xmas tunes decorations etc,? Does it get frowned on by some?i get that it’s a busy time, and that’s what we do,just wondered what offices do if anything.our boss used to treat us to a Xmas breakfast spread, like a finger buffet,we recently told him not to bother and save his budget,I’m sure these units out there that make an effort and go at it full on,despite a stormy and uncertain time we still try and enjoy ourselves much to the annoyance os some no doubt,Happy Xmas!,,,

Nobody bothers with Christmas Decorations, or Trees, if that's what you mean. Some Posties enter into the spirit by wearing Father Christmas Hats, but that's about it. :hmmmm Although they do seem get some perverse pleasure by playing Christmas Songs at Loud Volume......... If I hear Fairytale of New York one more time. :arrrghhh It's a strange job to have at Christmas, everyone else is slowing down for the Christmas Holidays.... and we're speeding up!

Does annoy me a bit when every DJ on the Radio seems to be going on about, "Knocking Off Early for the Christmas Break", and "Looking Forward to a nice Long Break for Christmas" and we're working our Tits Off .... But that's the job we signed up for. I do think RM Management could Reward us for all our Hard Work by giving us that odd day off, that always crops up around Christmas, or New Years. Like this Year when we have Weds & Thurs Off but then go back to work for the Fri & Sat.

My Wife always wonders why I don't really get excited about Christmas. I always say "I'm in the Wrong Businesss to get excited about it Love, it just means a lot of work" :cuppa

Yes i agree with you Dorset Plodder, i hate that Pogues song and also sick of hearing Noddy Holder every year. I quite like the wombles, wombling merry christmas, but it hardly ever gets played. Years ago we used to get a free bacon roll until our canteen was closed down.

12 hrs this week, just on my walk, no working day off, no coming in early, taking all breaks including one hr one day ( yes it took over 11 hrs that day) . Don't know why people come in early unpaid not take their breaks to finish an hr late and throw away an hrs pay. Then they say they are skint. Beggers belief. Gonna be busy next week looking at what was collected today! And the bosses say nobody sends cards any more it's all in tinter web.. yeah, right.

Unfortunately it's down to the DOM how he wants to play his "Christmas Working Plan", as you say it's open to Favouritism. :no no I find it very ironic how the Lazy Bastards who don't do ANYTHING extra all Year suddenly turn into "Overtime Bandits" over the Christmas Period, and really kick the Arse out of the Docket! I suppose they have been saving their strength over the other 48 weeks of the year ? :speak to the hand

We have the "Chosen Few" working a couple of hours Early Prep (which includes walking around chatting to his mates ... drinking tea & sitting on the frame texting because there's no work left) , plus they're working their day off ( thats 12 hours OT BEFORE they even leave to office  ) I noticed one had to book 20 mins Pressure today as well :Boo hoo! If'd I been lucky enough to finish that early I'd have asked him if he needed help filling in the overtime sheeet ..... because he doesn't have to do it the rest of the year .... He's always finished an hour before his contracted time! :cuppa

To be honest I am not that bothered. I usually go over myself but not always and I am not sure if there is huge interest in doing overtime in my office. You get usually same people in the morning early. I am sure they get paid and usually same people going over to taking some work to clear office and there is a special small group of people running the place but they operate 365 days a year. Never heard of anyone complaining though.

The only Xmas traditions we have in our d.o. are:
the massed groans and choice swear words that accompany the first Xmas tune played on the radio.
who has delivered to the house with their Xmas decorations up before anyone else.
Writing off colour Xmas greetings in the dirt on the work vans or when it's frosty, writing Xmas aliases at the top of the windscreen. Like The Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Scrooge, Herod, Santa, Rudolph
Oh we're a merry bunch....not.
